In other news, I'm having trouble coming up with an opening for my novel. A bunch of the meat is written but an intro has proved to be a challenge. What do you guys think of this:
There
exists a crawl space of sorts in the minds of every being. It is rarely ever
explored but nonetheless there, consisting of old memories either forgotten
because of irrelevance or too much relevance. Most everyone chooses to ignore
it completely.
In that
crawl space however, exists an entity which humans think they are aware of but
really aren’t. That entity is ourselves. It is every aspect of human life, our
consciousness, our physical existence as well as our imaginations. All of which
intertwine more than anyone knows or is willing to admit.
One man
stepped, perhaps accidently, into this crawl space. The events which took place
during this journey are well documented and give us a valuable understanding of
just what the crawl space consists of. Perhaps we’ll be driven to make further
investigations. Perhaps we’ll become fearful of it.
Nonetheless,
this man, Carl’s walk (or for lack of a better term, stumble) through the crawl
space is presented here for the everyman’s viewing. Delve into it at your wish.

Sounds similar to the ending of the French film Martyrs (which I highly recommend). I think "minds" in the first sentence should be "mind", otherwise it implies that every being has more than one mind, which is a cool thought.
