I know "prog" is a bit of a dirty word for some, but you would think that it didn't exist at all. I thought I would try here as all the traditional places of finding drummers to join a band is just not working. People want to play rock covers on a weekend, unfortuntely we don't!!!
So far we have had responses from several drummers, we are either not suffiecntly pro enough (not out touring) for some that are interested in the music or once the potential players realise that bars come is sizes other 4/4 they run a mile. So on the basis that anyone one here will like Prog Rock, may be a drummer and may live not too far away from Swindon,UK, here goes.......... Dead Lights are a swindon based prog rock band and we are short one drummer. We are writing original material and have vocals, keyboards, guitar and bass players. Working towards an album we have enough material written and more still coming. We have some in demo form on facebook if you fit the bill and you fancy a project, give us a shout on band at deadlights.org. If you don't fit the bill but know someone that does, send them in our direction. Thanks Edited by Spav - March 15 2012 at 15:00 |

I do sympathise to a certain extent:

Took me 2 and a half years to find a drummer. Coming upon 4 years for the search for a bass player and keyboardist. I fully understand.
Just suck it up and play to programmed tracks. Eventually if you kick enough ass someone will find you.

What a strange world of coincidences, having been looking for months, less than one hour apart there is Smuphs post and an email from a drummer we had spoken to some months ago, who wasn't available then but is now.
It's a sign!!!!! I'm keeping everything crossed Edited by Spav - March 14 2012 at 19:04 |

I feel the pain, I was an active musician for years and had a terrible time finding both bass players and singers, especially those that wanted to do original material (a dirty word it seems!); I remember placing an ad a few times and I'd get these delusional people who hadn't really committed to becoming a composing musician, the attitude seemed to be "Look no more, my friend, you search is over!" which of course meant "I'm a clown, don't waste your time with me!"
Best of luck to you. Edited by Atavachron - March 14 2012 at 21:23 |

Spav, I'd recommend you to talk to someone who could change the name of the thread accordingly so that your search for a drummer would be more promising. That's just a suggestion.

Good advise, I hadn't intended it to be an ad, more of a moan about being let down again. Changed the title you never know.
It does seem we are not alone in our search from the comments, we just have to keep plugging away and playing to the backing tracks, we are getting better with Adictive Drums though. I still have everything crossed, that the new drummer we are talking to comes through, he has a gong, how prog is that Edited by Spav - March 15 2012 at 15:08 |

Heck yea, backing tracks are where it's at. It pisses my band off because they dont like clicks but I think they're just whiners.

I got the same problem as you. It's very difficult to find the right person. We're still searching for some guys who want to be involved like my friend and I so for the moment we play everything and record what we can. I miss doing live shows.. lol
