Yeah, I'm usually more proud of my longer ones. I've been messaged about it before though, so I might be one sometime, haha.

Hey to teach their own, not gunna debate it any more, (Im trying to tone that down) just seems you're being a tad steadfast on purpose.
Not to be mean but "why do we need 300 words on an album everyone knows" isn't really a reason against it. Because everyone knows In the Court, the time put into the review just doesn't matter? You don't need much at all to decide to buy an album? That's great but there are more than you on the site So that's all, seems like a good way to reward some more effort (and not very much more) doesn't change much, and would not be unreasonable. Also, not sure why you mentioned Max being busy. He may be, but if its agreed to he will get around to it You seem to be implying "he wont do it" Edited by JJLehto - March 04 2012 at 22:32 |

Seriously, I don't understand why the hell "do we need 300 (or 100) words on an album everyone knows".

We don't need it. It'd just be in the forefront as it'd be the most in depth for some as maybe not everyone does know. Under 300 ones will be in the side. It's really quite simple. |

The point was that it's not about the album. So everyone knows it? I can flip that around. I hate (pick genre) and you want to write a 500 word review about an album from that genre. I don't wanna see that! But you wanted to write it.
It's about the review not what people care to see. If you don't wanna read it, don't. It takes half a second to scroll by it. And there are other albums. The very vast majority are not well known. If you have to live with seeing another review of In the Court well, it's a small price. Edited by JJLehto - March 04 2012 at 22:55 |

People are going to review it regardless of what you think about the number of reviews it has, and if we operate off your logic then it will just be piles of awful reviews at the top of the page. Honestly, I don't understand why you are so opposed to this idea. Is it because most of your reviews are under 300 words?

It's not always that simple. There are rarely reviewed albums and reviews are short. Non-collabs' reviews are in the right side, if collabs' reviews will be moved to the right side too, what's left in the left?

The reviews will still be available on the left column, easily expanded with the ease of a single click. The right column will remain to be reserved to top-tier reviews. Not only will this tidy up the reviews page for each album, but it will give the site a more credible look to it when regarding the right column as "Expert reviews".

Whoops. I had been going on about this for hours, but now I'm rested up and can continue to try to explain this concept.

Is this being considered or what? I don't mean to be pushy but I'm just curious.

To be honest Alan, I'm not too entusiastic on pressing for any proposal that will change how Collabs reviews are displayed, even if what you are proposing is a very goog idea. Personally I would prefer to see the non-Collabs reviews show in full rather than truncated to 6-lines.

Oh, that sounds like an equally fair result. But I thought the mods didn't want short novice reviews to be featured in full or given the highlighted spot? Would aspiring prog reviews and collabs still need to rewrite their short, bad reviews from when they first started?

It depends on how ambitious aspiring writers are. Some think everything coming from them belongs to history. Others, like, for example, Jim Morrison told that to create something original, it's necessary to get rid of early writings influenced by others. Tough choice.
