I just got the time to read the interview and all I can say is Mr. Wakeman is a true gentleman. Keep the interviews comin' Ian. Good job!

One of my observations after reading it again is that Rick's music seems to give off a false impression that he's a pretentious nerd type.  He seems like a really nice, laid back, normal kind of guy.  Of course, this won't make me appreciate Journey to the Center of the Earth any more ;)

The interview surprized me too.  I always thought of Rick Wakeman as the prima donna of Yes.  He comes off in the interview as a pretty decent guy. I only wish he'd talk more about his faith.  Most times celebs are pretty "out there" when they get spiritual but I think Rick sounds a bit more traditional.  I respect his desire to keep thi private however.

I met Rick August 30 after London, ONT show with Dream Theater. We had 90 mnutes with the band backstage. Fabulous show, sound was very rocky at first.

Spent most of my time with Rick, some with Chris and Alan. Rick is ridiculously smart AND just a regular guy. Odd combination. He said he loved Edmonton for music (never saw Yes there but drove out from there in '75 to see Moraz with them in Vancouver). Also 79, 80 and Union tour (I lived in Vancouver then, saw ABWH there also). Wakeman's Moog tech guy talked to me for 20 minutes outside as trucks were leaving- gave me his card and advice on fixing my '72 MiniMoog.

Everyone in the band is ultra-smart AND funny in that VERY dry English way, especially Rick and Chris. Alan is the friendliest guy I've met in my life.Rick is very private yet dead honest, thorough, hilarious and we connected well (I play keys since 1961 and bass since 1969- my progband took an award in Edmonton 1975).

Great interview- Rick thinks and writes and analyzes the way I do. I also never use presets. DX-7 since 1984 release. Hammond BC/Roland SH-1000 in 1975.Acoustic piano/Bach/Scarlatti always. Many synths and Mini anytime!

He and Keith are unparalleled; glad they get along- hope they get something recorded soon!

That was very cool.

Wakeman is a cool guy. I recently bought an album by him called country airs - just his compositions on piano, very classical.

This site is cool. I have only been a member for a few weeks but it's great reading and researching.

I wish more people would take a look in the prog department; once you're in it's so enriching and ENDLESS.

I think faith is a difficult subject for anyone in the public eye. You have to be careful not to ostracise yourself with it - alot of people aren't interested I guess. For me one of the reasons music is so powerful is it does away with the restrictions of words and lets us all communicate on a level that precludes confusion over meanings etc.

Great skills on a cracking interview.
