Inside Out Music

German label INSIDE OUT MUSIC have established themselves as one of the primary progressive rock labels since their formation in the mid 1990's. Best known for issuing albums by neo-progressive and progressive metal artists, but also covering other artists other parts of the progressive rock universe.

The label's mission statement: "First and foremost, Inside Out Music was born out of a genuine passion for progressive rock and metal. From the very beginning our goal has been to use all of our resources and experience to find and acquire the very finest new progressive music in the world - and - in turn - to present it back to the world in a meaningful way. Quite simply, we are dedicated to developing progressive music as a genre by developing the best acts that the genre has to offer.

Awaiting a few evaluations, but apart from those this list is complete as of today in terms of linking artists and albums issued by Inside Out to the database pages of Progarchives. I'll try to maintain this list as new releases and blanks in the release list appears.

Now I'm merely a writer and occasional helper and not involved in the business as such, so how much or weel suited I am as a guide I really don't know. But I'll toss out a few somethings.

Such thing as a break isn't something that just happens. Such breaks are often the case of hard, dedicated work over a number of years, developing skills and frequently creating a lot of material and releasing it without many taking much notice. Honing your skills in the studio and live, as composers and performers. PR and marketing another details that needs to be there.

Even back in the days of old, bands like Iron Maiden had their years of playing to the handful of disinterested souls in small bars and the occasional gig with a lonely dog as the only audience. Norwegian pop band a-ha were down and poor in the UK, gaining their breakthrough with the third release of their now megahit Take On me, a song that had flunked badly the two first times it was released.

The band BlindMute appears to have a lot of work in the marketing department for starters. Their Facebook page liked by 49 people (their closest network?), information about band and album sparse to not existing. There are hundreds of thousands of bands out there trying to make it, and while many do suck at presenting themselves and connecting to people this stated duo appears to have a major development potential right there.

Are they on Bandcamp or a similar system? Links needed. Have they gotten people to write about their album, have they sought out anyone to do just that? Have they connected to fellow musicians and their fans, actively used feedback and being social in some respect to get a core few who'll do some legwork for them? Have they played live, gotten some shots taken from performances, connected to fans and people who saw them?

That's my initial feedback, thoughts and questions for this particular band. I'm not the most knowledgeable guy in this area by any means, but hopefully you who wrote this request for feedback will find an iota of something useful in there.
