New album from Purple

Hi guys.

The instrumental crossover prog project "Purple" has a new album out called "BODY:MIND:SPIRIT" - check it out at http://www.purplemusic.org - I'd love to hear your thoughts

I was here a couple of years ago with my last album, and was very encouraged by the response.  I'm not strictly "unsigned" rather "self-published" - all my music is free to a good home.

Thanks for the feedback. A lot of people seem to mention Mike Oldfield in connection with this, and seeing as I deliberately set out to follow the same ethos of long but varied instrumental tracks this is gratifying.  This is also not the first time "crossover prog" has been used as a label - I tend to think of it as accessible prog, you don't need to be a proghead to appreciate it, but given I'm a pretty dyed-in-the-wool prog lover the complexity of prog creeps in.

The problem at Last.fm is annoying, I admit I hadn't tested it and so I thought it was playing full tracks.  I'll look into it, and I'll also look at the bandcamp option.  I have a reverbnation page but their limit on track length is ridiculously short (for me) so I used them for previews. 

The tracks for download are all pretty fully tagged up - I swapped from downloads at Last.fm because they recode all tracks as they upload which removes the tags. I objected to this because not only does it remove the copyright info, but also the ISRC information (the music equivalent of ISBN). 

The boundaries between "signed" and "unsigned" are getting really blurred these days, and I'm not sure where Purple stands technically in that. I have done the legal minimum to set myself up as a sole trader for publishing purposes (which really is not much more than saying "I'm a publisher" and registering with PPL). I guess technically I'm not "signed" to myself because I don't have a contract with myself. I'd be very up for being moved to Suggest New Bands

OK update on Last.fm, they are not making it very clear to find what you want. when you go into the album page, under "tracklist", if you click on the "play" icon you get a 30-second preview.  If you click on the track name instead you go to a track page, if you then click on " Play direct from Purple (Dan Hodgson) (27:00)" you get the full thing.

However, this is all really un-obvious and if I can find somewhere better to stream from I will do so.  Just off to check out bandcamp - thanks for flagging that up Yam Yam :)
