Actually, I'm not finding this the friendliest place so far. Apparently several people here already believe me to be either an idiot or a troll.
I'm not sure I should post here.. I have a brain disability and it causes me to have a terrible memory and to put words into my sentences that aren't quite right. It used to be I only had this problem with verbal communication but now it is showing up more and more in written which is freaking me out.
I hope I can find a place to settle here where people are patient with me and I can make some good friends. I'm very lonely in my music loving, esp. as a woman.

All I can do is apologise for the treatment you have experienced - I've just read through some of it and I have to say I'm disappointed in how some people around here have responded. Hopefully this will stop now so you can enjoy your visits here without further unnecessary unpleasantness.

I too went through the goth thing and love the 80's new wave stuff. Was also a big fan of the 80's hair band stuff, specifically those that used synths. Was always a fan of Floyd, Yes, Genesis and the like. I now can't get enough of band like Glass Hammer, Phideaux, The Flower Kings and more. There is so much to choose from.

I hope that you didn't find my comments in the Muse thread to be unfriendly, as it certainly wasn't my intention, as I was responding to other posters in that thread. At any rate, welcome to PA, and I hope that your impression of us improves from the initial impression.

Well Lirazel dont worry if you receive a cold reception occasionally - its never meant to be personal. I for one am glad you are here - we do not have many female prog fans, so a warm welcome to you.

Wow. Thanks so much everyone. I am moved. *tips hat and winks at Snowdog*. I appreciate the reaching out. For one thing you are helping to alleviate the cynicism of my son (age 26 introvert) whose comment to my venting about my initial difficulties here were, "That's the internet for you." and to my disclosure about my disability issues, "No one on the internet cares." I struggle with pessimism and cynicism (apple doesn't fall far from the tree?), but nowhere near that level. You all have showed him that there can be a different sort of community on the internet!
Oh and Rushfan... apology graciously accepted.
And with that out of the way....
I would like people to share with me what they consider the most moving and/or beautiful lyrics are that come to mind. (although it may be dangerous waters for me b/c I am trying to break the addiction of torrenting). Just wondering. I'll have to think about what I would post because there are so many..

If you start this particular topic in the "Top 10 & Lists" thread, you will get far more responses than you will on this particular thread.
When you do, I will reply Turn of the Century by Yes
