I think the word you were after is consenting, but then again, maybe not.

But why wouldn't they want to have sex?  Are they hideous CHUDs?

I should point out I wasn't judging them negatively...I just thought it was interesting that folks are looking for a relationship to co-parent with a stranger, but have no interest in becoming romantically attached....usually people would be looking for both?

If it makes things better for the kid, more power to em.

I guess in the end I like sex so much that such a relationship is inconceivable.  Tongue

All sounds quite reasonable to me. I wouldn't choose to do it this way; I'm too old fashioned, but it doesn't strike me as particularly strange.

I think it's pretty rare we disagree, but....

I suppose I am lucky in that I am extremely happily married. Many people are less so, and I would have thought that a bit of rumpy-pumpy every now & again might just make up for all the disagreements, nags, moans, fist fights & etc.

That probably sounds all a little bit horrible and sarky. But the serious point, to me, is that sex is an important and, dare I say it, vital part of a loving relationship, and children need to be brought up in a loving relationship, otherwise we get the social problems that come with that.

Well, I've never been married, happily or otherwise and as much as I would like to be in the kind of partnership you're describing, I don't think the physical aspect of it needs to have any bearing on how the children turn out, so long as they are allowed to find their own way in the world of love, as they mature, and not have this approach to home making forced on them as a superior alternative.

I suspect there are other reasons why the lady in the story doesn't want a physical relationship, and that's her business. She may be asexual, of course, and if so that is not really a reason to not want a family.

Sounds like a reasonable social experiment. I suspect it's the right choice for certain people.

You are quite a fine person, and I am very fond of you. But you are only quite a little fellow, in a wide world, after all.

Hey I'm in a traditional messy marriage myself, and prefer it that way. But if someone else wants to try something else, that's up to them.

If you're used to a happy marriage with all the trimmings, then something like this is going to seem odd to you.

It's all about what you're used to. To me, just having a relationship feels pretty bizarre, when it occassionally happens!

I take it one further: I don't need the contract.

Not with guns.  Tongue

I read that article.  It isn't disingenuous.  His income tax rate was 102%.  Not all of his income was taxable income.  When you calculate your taxes, your entire income is not taxable income.  Your tax rate applies to your taxable income, not your entire income.
