And of course all the fake laughter from the hosts.  Do they have the equivalent of Good Morning America over there?
Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

I'm not watching anything at the moment, but I started watching the first series of the newest Dr. Who (from 2005).  I've never watched any episodes of this program before so I guess this was as good a place as any to start.

Yes.  I am just not used to them, and I don't get some of the slangs.  Don't mind me though.  I just like being a funny American who jokes that the English speak funny English.

Any slang problems you can ask me. I suppose I talk funny too.

I had not heard of Torchwood.  Sounds like something else that I will have to look out for.  I borrowed this Doctor Who series from the library.  They seem to have a lot of the older series too, so I might go back and watch those eventually.  I just figured that since they had Series One of this newer version that it was a good place to start.  I see from my Wiki readings that it is a continuation of the older Series' story instead of just a remake, so that does make me curious to go back further.  I think that I will see how this batch of shows goes first though.  I've watched the first 3 shows and although I am not sold on parts of the storyline I think that it might grow on me.

I think that some of these shows might get shown on BBC America.  I recall seeing the Dr. Who commercials, and thinking that that sounded like my kind of show.  I am pretty certain that I saw Torchwood commericials too.  The only show that I can remember watching on BBC America was Robin Hood, and I quite enjoyed that too, although it seemed to have just ended.  I think that I may have missed something or maybe even an entire season, but I am not sure.

Anyhow, I quite expect that Dr. Who will be a program that I will come to enjoy.  It certainly has the potentially based on the first few episodes.  They seem kind of B movie-ish, but I have high hopes.

Its b-movie quality was part of its appeal, thought CGI has removed a lot of the wobbly set syndrome it suffered in the 70s & 80s, it is still a low budget series and while only the first 26 series were specifically made by the BBC children's programming department, it is still essentially a kids programme.

And Torchwood was the "adult" version, with lots of blokes kissing each other & etc.
