Maybe we should clarify what we mean by "art" and "artist". For me, art refers to all kinds of art, not only the visual arts. And I think performers/interpreters like musicians, conductors and actors are artists, as well as directors and choreographers, of course. Do you agree?

I do indeed. when I want to refer to "art" in the narrow sense, I speak of sculpting or painting. even a writer is an artist, in a way. anything creative can be seen as a form of art. it is not for nothing that Joseph Beuys said: "every man is an artist" ("man" standing for "human being" here")
