If anyone wants some quality, stripped-down blues-rock.. they're for you.

Try some of their older albums, Thickfreakness or Rubber Factory.

It is funny.  I guess that they have sort of been described as similar to The White Stripes, but apparently Jack White was pretty pissy about that.  And in the article they talked about being grouped in with Nickelback, to which the one guy replied f**k that, or something.  "We are nothing like Nickelback and the acceptance of Nickelback as the best thing in music today is what is wrong with music today".

Jack White is pissy about nearly everything.

My mom loves Nickelback.

I don't think Nickelback are the best thing in music today.

Nobody on PA does, but worldwide record sales seem to indicate otherwise.

Nickelback's music is classed as hard rock[2] and alternative metal.[1]

wut LOL

Most notably, alternative metal bands are characterized by heavy guitar riffs and experimental approaches to heavy music.

The Black Keys aren't anything special. Just average, vanilla wannabe late 60's / early 70's hard rock.

There are some similarities to the White Stripes, but i find the Black Keys more soulful, and their blues influence is more obvious.

I should listen to more WS, seeing i have every BK album. LOL

Oh, drop the White Stripes, drop the Black Keys - go straightforward to the blues section of your next record store or your next library.

Also, rant: Jack White is one of the most disgustingly overrated guitarists in modern music.  People praise him like he's the second coming of Hendrix or some stupid sh*t, when he is mind-numbingly average.  His licks are boring and his leads unoriginal.

Agreed, i honestly think he's in the limelight due to modern desperation to find a guitarist that can be played on the radio.
