Funny, for me, it doesn't seem to get old.

Brian, I know the Giants D has been great lately, but they were 28th in the league for the season (using the yds/game metric), ahead of only the "no defense teams" you mentioned.

Giants were ranked 25th in scoring defense for the season. Packs were ranked 19th. Pats were 15th. Niners and Ravens were 2 and 3, respectively. Of the losers, Steelers were number 1 in scoring defense, Texans were 4th, Saints were 13th, and Falcons were 18th.

So generally, offense vs. defense for each championship:

NFC: Giants (25th defense, 9th offense) at Niners (2nd defense, 11th offense)

AFC: Ravens (3rd defense, 12th offense) at Pats (15th defense, 3rd offense)

It should be noted that the Giants were mediocre all around in the regular season, but they've been killer in the postseason. I mean, they were a 9-7 team on the season. Strange how their defense has been monster in the playoffs. Blanked the Falcons (offense gave up 2,  but the Falcons got zero points when New York's defense was on the field) and held Rogers and the highest-scoring offense in the NFL to 20, despite the gifts from the refs. That's great D no matter how you slice it. I wonder if it will last, though.
Hail Eris!

The playoffs are a new season, actually a 1 game season. You have to bring it everygame, any hiccups will get you a 1 way ticket home. The 2 best teams in NFC are out, ask them about TO problems...too many of those will loose u the game.

It boils down to which team can capitalize on the other teams mistakes. Stats do not generally weigh in much once the regular season ends.....But mentally you have to be on game every game.......That is why I picked the Gmen to beat the Packers, I really felt Manning was gonna have a much better game than Rodgers.

Oh absolutely, and you've been in the thread ya know I've been banging my head against the wall over that very thing all season, and while coverage has been better I still see it...especially the poor "tackling" (Im sick of seeing them just hit with the shoulder or worse throw an arm in there). But besides the fact I'm a fan-aticTongue they have put the defense together soooo I'll claim an unwarranted sense of satisfaction with their great defenseLOL

They did pick one hell of a time to put it together!

I'm crazy nervous about the Niners game, and not to go too far ahead but if hypothetically we ended up playing the Pats in the SB...well, Denver's D is no joke and Brady put up 6 TDs. The team has also been much quieter maybe in part due to tebowmania. A red hot, under the radar Tom Brady is a thought I'd rather not have!

^ Ok I can agree with you there B........tackling in the NFL is a lost art, especially for the DB and safetys, they are small and just a shoulder hit never brings anyone down.......wrap up people!

Indeed it is, and G men are some horrible offenders. Oh how I feel every time they just kinda throw their body in there and hope the player goes down....

And sincerely, my apologies to Kevin Commander (if you read this) or any one, guess I was pretty rude but hey, it was a surprising and dominating game. I was amped up beyond hell, and honestly it does feel like playing the Packers involves beating two teams....so I was glad they could overcome the refs. If NFL wants to hold any dignity they need to fix this mess of officiating.

Anywho, hoping for another great  round! Giants/Niners should be intense and the Ravens/Pats is another defensive vs offensive juggernaut battle.

The pressure was good and coverage was better. If he wasn't a scrambler that game would've a complete blowout.

The Giants earned this win, as did the Niners.
I'm so glad these no defense all offense teams have been put out of their shame. We just need to hope the Ravens can now end the Pats.

You said it brother!

Defense wins championships.

The Giants are expert in beating perfect team ;New England in the past, and now Packers. But i think the Packers gave them a easy win by dropping the ball many times. Manning was impressive and the defense made the big plays. Interesting matchup next week in the NFC. Got to go for the home team this time....

I wasn't really sure anymore to be honest, so it's been awesome to see so many defensive teams winning.
OK the Giants defense sucked ass but they don't right now sooo I'm counting itLOL
Niners game will be epic, if you can stop the Pack you can stop Alex Smith but how well will they stop Eli??

think your guys can do it Jody? Brady is channeling his 2007 days right now.

The Pats have me worried but we have beat them in Foxborough before.I have seen the Ravens win a SB with a solid running game and killer defense.

What has me worried is the Ravens O-line.They really need to step up their game, protect Flacco and open up some holes for RR.

And speaking of defense and the Ravens, they really deserve a hand for fielding a consistently dominant defense for 12 years or so.How many other teams have done that?

Ravens vs Niners would be Harbaugh vs Harbaugh, wouldn't it?

Indeedily, and I am fans of them. Love what one has done with Frisco.

Yeah Jody must have a bit of a 2000 feel to them. Been avoiding this but no way around it now...deff getting a 2007 feel from us. Maybe an old SB repeat is brewing? Hopefully with different resultsLOL
I was too young to ever remember that SB anyway, pretty sure 2001 was the first I ever saw.

I was actually at that Super Bowl (Ravens/Giants), as was Jody.

I would love a rematch of 2007, Brian.  Tongue

I'm just hoping the NFC team brings enough offense to outscore the Cheatriots in the Super Bowl.

As do I!
At first I liked the idea of facing the Pats defense..but nah might as well take Flacco, Rice and Co over Brady.

IDK Pat...you sure you won't regret those words if it happens?Wink

Being at the SB? Man must've been great. I would love to do it one day.
At least I've seen some big/good ones (Tiki Barbers last ever home game, the first Pats/Giants in 07, the win against Atlanta).

And those Penn State games were just f**kin insane. Not even the last 2 I mentioned cold match that intensity. 110,000 people mostly drunk just going batsh*t for 60 minutes. Was cool to be part of the season when PSU got up to #3 in the country, before Iowa happened, oh and the depressing repeat next yearCry

Nah.  If you get past the Packers, Niners, and Pats, you've earned it.

Wouldn't you like a shot at the Ravens for redemption?  (Even though you're too young to remember).
