I don’t think you saw s_e’s question.

Is he a character in a legend?

The title character of the novel I refer to is a character in a legend.

Long before 1851.

The person I am looking for is human. The title character of the novel in which he appears is not.

Is the novel a part of an abandoned series and does the series the novel is part of feature a novel/novella which has the same title as a famous album?

Scrap that question. LOL

There's only one book I can think of and that was made into a Disney film.  So I don't think it's that.

Presuming the author is a he... haha, it might not be.

The author was born in Vienna. But he is rather associated with Prague.

Is the non-human character in which the novel is named, a mythical being/beast?

No.

A  hint: The person has a title which means "teacher".

There seems to be some confusion. The real person was born way before 1851. The author of the novel in which the character appears was born after 1851.

A very strong hint to the author: He has a lot in common with an extremely famous and important American author: He wrote in the same field, he translated him into German,and he even shares birthday with him (day, not year). It is almost as if he is a reincarnation olf him. The author doess not imitate the American author though; he has a very own style.

Did this author translate Hemingway?
He say nothing is quite what it seems;

Another hint: If he is a reincarnation of the American author, that author rested in the grave for less than 19 years before his rebirth.

No, but he translated Charles Dickens.To translate Hemingway he would have needed to rise from the grave. Well, maybe not for the very earliest works of Hemingway.
