Not yet. It takes a lot to piss me off and I don't recommend trying. Judging by your posts thus far I don't think that you justify three Prog's in your name since you don't like anything post 1980 or anything electronic, which accounts for at least 2/3rds of all Prog.
What?

I think Walter has been back for a while, under a new guise, and lurks a little more.

Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

Spamming!LOL
Why the F*ck do you think so?.Even if I say every neo-prog fan is sissy and stupid( though I don't and didn't), it's still my own idea, and  you can say yours as well.
Offending others in the virtual world is easy, I bet, some of you (those who mock others) don't have the balls to act like that in person.
Spamming or trolling, mostly occurs when there are commercial purposes.Or those who insult other members.

I'm almost newbie in this forum, before joining, I assumed I'm going to find some good friends here. However, I've seen few nice guys and read their great thoughts about music so far, but some of you, are very rude and want every body to think like you.
My posts may not helping PA founders to sell more products through their website, but hey, they appreciate more ppl in their forum. And true, I don't like new wave of music, but I still love most of earlier works, that have been registered in this website.

Making fun of people is way easier than having a rational discussion with them.

There's good people here. There's also snobby people here. But any forum you go to will have good and bad.

Come to the shred room, where rational discussion and trolling combine to make one.

I must say I lose interest in prog. It just does not interest me anymore what new albums come out, with the odd exception. Jazz and classical music  are much more interesting, in my opinion.. There is so much music to discover which expands my mind more than prog; why, completely exploring the works of Johann Sebastian Bach lone seems to be a task that would take a lifetime but would be much more fulfilling than wasting my time with so-called "new" prog albums which are more or less just an endless repetition of what has already been said.
...

I lost interest about 10 to 15 years ago, when the folks "discussing" the term and its terminology, did not know much about music and were not interested in placing this music within the context of all music ... it's way too kissypoo to rockband reviewers and kissers in many magazines ... it's about the star and never the music ... and the way that it was defined is as bizarre and unlike any music that anyone can ever compose, not to mention that if that one computer in Santa Cruz composes using all those ideas, everyone here in this board will say that it is pretentious and not good ... and all the metal'ists will hate it because it doesn't thrash enough and it's not loud enough .... and it never ends.

Worse part? Listening to music and its different elements and suggestions ... is always bypassed.  Not cool enough and definitly not "fan" friendly at all ... because that is like suggesting that the fan is not intelligent ... in other words, it's not even about the music anymore!   Why would that not be intelligent? We are talking about music correct? Where are people going with this?

The whole thing has become a definition of FAN ... and has nothing to do with music ... and at least, music history was put together on appreciation of music and its variety and its differences ... but here, it is almost all like ... it has to sound the same! If this is true.....then people who feel this way are moronic.

And that "same" is the one thing that is craziest for me ... just like some of the reviews here ... not prog enough because it doesn't sound like YES or ELP or ... whatever! You will never convince a majority of people whose first prog purchase was U.K. that there is a progressive rock style on Tommy. A majority of people will never understand what could possibly be progressive about the Rolling Stones during the Brian Jones years. The development of these progressive elements in rock music during that time are now dismissed and most of these bands are defined as mainstream rock bands by society.....which they were! however during the 60's it's a different story. People in today's world would never make a connection between  what  Brian Jones may have played on a dulcimer, flute, sitar, or mellotron to what could have  later turned up on a Curved Air album. People rarely make a connection that what Jones was doing in 66' could have developed in prog during the early 70's.

To me, "progressive" and then later "prog", were the first classical music of my time and place on this earth and I love these people dearly for having done it and tried it ... and I still respect Pete Townsend for saying that "Tommy" is a rock opera ... and folks here will still say it's not progressive ... and it is way more progressive in its entirety than more than half the top 100 listed at this site or any other "progressive" site ... where the numbers is about the fame and fortune, not the artist at all ... and maybe that is where the problem lies ... it needs to get off the "album" and placed on the artist ... and these people don't like artists, do not trust them, and think they are more evil than any other religion out there!

The main difference? 100 years ago it wasn't electric ... today it is ... and the age of accoustic is pretty much over ... for the next couple of hundred years I bet!

Oh well ... que sera, sera!
what a post. With "Tommy" you have to consider their fate was to be viewed by the public at large in terms of being a "Rock Band" and not so much a band who wrote a "Rock Opera" that crossed into a more progressive or then labeled "Art Rock" style. I'm probably making reference to a generation of people who heard "Who By Numbers" as an introduction to the band. It was easy for us to understand the progression of the Who. I first heard them in 65' and collected each album. When you first heard "Who Sell Out" it was obvious they were taking a new direction.  The piece "Underture" for instance features Keith Moon and I still can't believe the Carl Palmer form in that.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that was less of an implication of spam, and more of a Monty Python reference.

Basically, the issue is that it happens all the time. You can't swing a dead cat around here without hitting a thread about how neo-prog sucks, or one of the dreaded "Is Dream Theater Actually Prog?" discussions. This means that if you go around sl*g.ing off neo-prog, even the people who agree with you are going to react against you simply because it's overdone and annoying.

You have to understand, that the OP is a long-time member of the site who's done all sorts of reviews, and when she says she's losing in prog, she's not being a jerk about it (not that I'm saying you are, but bear with me here), but is just saying that she hasn't heard very much recently that's interested her.

So, trying to stick with this forum. Learn the ebb and flow of things a bit. And, whatever you do, never, ever make a thread about Dream Theater.
