Also, technically both "is" and "are" are correct when talking about a band. "Are" is correct when referring to the band as a group of people, though "is" is correct if referring to the band as a collective identity.

Most of the time a band is referred to a group of people. Well, in my case they are.
"Dream Theater is sh*t" just sounds odd. "Dream Theater are sh*t" sounds correct.

I usually don't care how I refer to something because I'm a bad person, but I hate not knowing whether to refer to one of my teachers as Ms. or Mrs. in email.
