I don't know. I guess I find the offering of that choice to be very derogatory. It should just be, "You are free now." |

^True. But these former slaves would've been in no condition whatsoever to return to Africa by their own means and, having been forcibly removed from there, helping them to go back would've been a justified reparation I think.
Edit: Oh I read now your reply to Mofo. I agree. Edited by The T - November 28 2011 at 13:19 |

Yes.
I agree with that, but not for descendants of former slaves. Had we done it at the time that slavery was abolished and said, "Hey guys, we kinda screwed up and didn't have the right laws in place and you were taken advantage of and treated like less than human because of it, so here's some cash to get you on track in an equal life here in America. If you want to go back to Africa, here's when the boats leave." it would have been a lot better. |

Beware the coming EU bailouts by the IMF and US Federal Reserve..
A warning from Ron Paul: Ron Paul - the coming EU bailouts Nice to know that while US states go bankrupt, the Fed wil be pumping more devalued money into a busted Europe. Our government, here in the UK uses an expression to describe the current economic crisis "We're all in it together" This is of course not entirely true. Goldman Sachs has done extraordinarily well out of the crisis. They are now in charge of Greece and Italy. Democratic governments were deposed in what was - for all intents and purposes - a cue by the global bank, and in their place unelected technocrats, formerly of the bank. In the case of Greece, Papandraeos replacement was actually head of the Boston Federal Reserve at one point. On the issue of debt. The official level of national debt in the US is around $14.5T. This is what the nation owes, however the debt they don't shout too loud about is the quadrillions of derivative debts, inflated by the global banks. That is money that WE DO NOT OWE!!! but are all being forced to pay back through our respective imposed austerity packages, despite many economists saying the debt is mathamatically impossible to pay off. Anyway, merry Christmas. Let's hope we have something to celebrate next year. Edited by Blacksword - December 20 2011 at 06:24 |

They're trying to create a central bank for the entire world. They'll fail miserably and we'll probably fall into a global depression (or worse), but they'll be damned for trying!
"They" of course being pretty much every powerful special interest group that holds political sway. |

Why would we stop there? We have to talk about things that actually aren't a problem, like income inequality. |

Income inequality is only not a problem if you are born into wealth. And I didn't post those articles to try to agree on the ideas contained within. |

When I was poor, my friends and I would say how we wish that we all had enough money for what we needed. We never worried about the fact that some of us had more than the other or that some rich people far away had more than we could dream about.
Now that I am not poor, I wish that poor people had enough to afford what they need, and I am happy that I have that money. I rarely worry about my money in comparison to theirs or rich people's money in comparison to mine. Income inequality is only a problem if (a) The inequality has occurred as a result of some injustice. Then, the inequality isn't really the issue at all, the acts of injustice themselves are the issue or (b) You view the income inequality as a means to an end. |

I didn't do anything. I went from rags to being okay because of my parents. They worked upwards of seventy hours a week while my grandmother and uncle looked after me.

Obama's Dow Hits 13,000
It was 6,000 and change under DMF ![]() Link The Dow finally reclaimed the ground it held before the carnage of the Bush b*****ds— bailouts, bank failures, layoffs by the million and a stock market panic that cut retirement savings in half. The Dow closed above 13,000 for the first time since May 19, 2008, almost four months before the fall of the Lehman Bros. investment bank triggered the worst of the financial crisis. The Dow finished at 13,005.12, up 23.61 points for the day. "People can see that the markets bounce back and are resilient over time," said Marc Scudillo, managing officer at Dewet, Phuckum and Howe, a financial advice company in Bridgewater, N.J. "That's a powerful message." ![]() That good news got Boner crying again. Thanks to the radicals and the Teabaggers, he knows he won't be Speaker much longer. |
