I don't hate Haken, I just am unfamiliar with their work (aside form a song or two I heard on LR, and it sounded meandering)

So I keep reading things about like "if you see a pretty girl somewhere, just go up to her and start talking"; does this not seem like an awful idea or something? It sounds really stupid/ weird to me.

It is less creepy than to just stand there at stare at her with drool dripping down your chin.

Talking to strangers doesn't seem so weird, I guess it depends on how you come off.

All the strangers that talk to me are only asking for money.

-> If you see a pretty girl somewhere, you should ask her for money.

I dunno, seems weird to me.

"Hi, I've decided to bother you because I like your face. What's up?"

Better than

"Hi, I've decided to bother you because I like your ass."

Heck, yours might even give her a giggle.

That is why there are so many stupid pick-up lines.  A way to break the ice and start up a conversation.  It is a gift or dare I say "talent" to be good at doing it.  It takes a salesman mentality to be able to be rejected 99 times in order to succeed that 1 time.

I'll give it a shot then. How many women carry mace with them?

That is why "Do you come here often?" "Do I know you from somewhere?" and "Did it hurt falling from heaven?" are spoken a hundred times a day in each pick-up joint in the world.

Also, "that dress is beautiful.  The only thing that would be nicer is if it were crumbled up on my bedroom floor tomorrow morning".

I don't think I could ever use a pick-up line like that, ever. It's not really "me". The "I like your face" line sounds way more like something I would actually say. I'd also say "I'm very nervous and trying to overcome a fear of talking to people. Please don't run away."

I think that it is a pick-up line that might only work in the movies or on a very drunk very horny girl.

It would work in a film starring Michael Cera.
