If the defenses were catching up, why are THREE QB's on pace to break the single season passing yards record this year? If anything, it's getting worse. I think that defenses WILL catch up eventually, but right now the trend over the last few years has been more and more passing yards, which contradicts any notion of defenses currently catching up to the increase in passing plays. |

Not totally defense, more on the offense/rule changes IMO.
Teams are passing more, using more spread formations, more shotgun and there is more general protection for the QBs and of course restraint on DBs (like no more contact after 5 yards) So it makes sense the records are starting to fall, and really stands to show the greatness of Marino that until now it's stood for so long. Hell, the single game passing yard record still stands, not even Tom Brady has broken it yet, and that was set in the 40s I think!!! It does make it tough on defense though, pretty much the LB is becoming extinct. I'm waiting for the day when it gets to what I used to do in NCAA 10.....5 linemen, 5 DBs. Oi what a sad day that'll be! (I was Nebraska so had to play Texas Tech, Mizzou, Oklahoma etc) We've seen these passing teams CAN be stopped but pretty much solely on pass rush. edit : I missed the Heisman ceremony thanks to drinking but eh...the honor must be great but I just don't get real hyped up about it. Called Griffin was gunna win, he has a lot more "WOW" factor than Luck. Being the stubborn b*****d I am, was wishing it would be a running back, and ideally the one from the Big Ten! Just was wishful thinkin though ![]() Edited by JJLehto - December 11 2011 at 01:34 |

The BCS should be hog tied by their gonads......BSU 56 ASU 24....What a non-competitive boring game that was for Boise.

Well, they put an 11-1 team up against a 6-6 team. I'm suprised the self-important fart suckers over at the NCAA didn't have a rematch of the Boise St. vs TCU "Red-Headed Step Child" Bowl from a couple years back. College football only has meaning at the NFL's minor league, at this point. Hopefully nobody is suckered into watching the godawful "bcs championship" rematch.

Pretty much just the rule changes. Anyone see the insane stupidity that was the end of the Colts-Texans game? |

I'm still upset that Boise State was the number seven team in the nation and played a freaking 6-6 team. It doesn't make any sense HNGGGGGGGGGGG
On the other hand, KU has gotten 4 years worth of quality QBs since Weiss has showed up, I'm optimistic. |

Yeah but Boise State has never, and will never, get the place to shine.
We all know it, and that horrid Hawaii/Georgia game years ago just helped nail the coffin shut forever. The BCS is $$$ and no one wants to watch these "lesser" teams. It's a shame because I do like Boise St and think they are a legit pretty good team. Another sad casualty of the "light schedule" is Kellen Moore. He is now the winningest QB in NCAA History. 50 wins! As a four year starter he has taken the Broncos to a 50-3 record, with those 3 losses by a combined 5 points! 2 of em were to a TCU team which had 47 wins over the same period... Each of his 4 years: 12 wins, at least 3400 yards and 25 TDs for a total of 14,000+ yards, 142 tds and 28 picks. A helluva career and I checked his numbers for the year: 74.3% complete with 43 TDs and 9 picks. Shame he was almost unheard of in the country..and he's a small guy so doubt he'll get much of a chance in the NFL |

Also, may I ask how Weis has done that without being the coach for a month?
![]() Sorry, just think he's kind of a fail for his name. Not that he did so bad but I havn't really seen him impress since the NFL days (with Tom Brady) and the tenure of Notre Dame he was responsible for was a huge bust. Really havn't heard of any of his offensive players making it in the NFL either. Pressure may be lower though at Kansas so we'll see. I am also curious how Rich Bomb er....Rich Rod will do at Arizona. His fail at Michigan was beyond epic ![]() Edited by JJLehto - December 23 2011 at 16:50 |

What? Everyone knows Kellen Moore. Hell, we know him a lot better than Case Keenum, who has more touches, fewer interceptions, and more yards on a team that isn't as good all-around as Boise. Hell, Case holds the NCAA career yards record and is the first person ever to put up 3 seasons with 5000 yards. I think both Kellen and Case will get their shots in the pros. Maybe they'll do well, maybe they won't. Remember Graham Harrell? Kid had some great college stats, but went undrafted and, last I heard, is currently on the Packs' practice squad. |

Pressure is definitely lower but it's no small feat that he recruited like this. |

Well....Case also plays for the Houston Air Raiders ![]() Don't get me wrong, people know Moore but it's all Luck, Griffin, Landry Jones, even Barkley though he's going back to USC now. Just not a lot of press. Harrell is in fact an example of another "uber passer" that never panned out, there are others of course. Hey there you go Tan, guess the name alone is still enough to bring recruits. We'll see how he does. He had good recruits at Notre Dame after all. I do think less pressure can help, also you can have some more time to develop and not be blasted after like 2 games! Edited by JJLehto - December 23 2011 at 18:19 |

Huh? This is the first time I've heard that pro guys are giving RG3 the time of day, and Barkley wasn't supposed to be a very high pick either (though that might have changed as the season progressed). From what I've heard Kellen Moore has had much more talk about him than anyone other than Andrew Luck. Problem is, there's just so much hype surrounding Andrew Luck that it's really hard to tell heads from tails for QBs in the draft. |

....Well you know we live in different areas of the country (I think?) and maybe for whatever reason that's reflective.
It's been all Luck, but heard of RG3 and Barkley was supposedly a 1st round pick (but I've seen projected first rounders go un drated!) ![]() Oh, also TV is lamesauce anyway, I use the internet a lot and there it's been a lot of Luck, Barkley, Jones as well as Griffin. So that's kinda what I base it on. Hey, if I needed a QB I'd spend a mid round pick on Moore and give him a try! I'm a fan of Boise too, don't take my realism for disrespect, I dont seem em as championship caliber but I do think they are a very good team and should see better than they do! |

I wish there were better bowl games this season, though. I mean, Bama is clearly a better team than OK State, but Bama has had their shot. There just isn't any matchup I'm eager to see there. Best games will be the Fiesta and Cotton bowls, for sure. Should be some interesting matchups in the Chick-Fil-A, Sugar, and Orange bowls, too. Everything else is pretty throwaway.

OK, something just confused the hell out of me and I wonder if anyone here is particularly familiar with the rulebook. Utah (Sun Bowl vs. Georgia Tech) had about 4 ineligible guys downfield on a trick pass. Is there some rule about the endzone removing that or did the refs just screw the pooch on it?

Still not sold on Weis, but we will see!
Also, this is how good I am. Apparently Penn State is in a bowl game ![]() I mean, with our record I guess I knew that but...well apathy has really exploded since leaving school. Playing Houston which I believe is one of these 90% passing teams, and its some bowl game I already forgot. Probably not gunna watch this even. |

Yup, I was wise to not watch that Penn State bowl game lol
Soooooo WVU-Clemson. I missed most of it, but I tuned it to the score 70-20. WTF!? I heard today apparently it was a back and forth game with Clemson going to take the lead, when they fumbled and apparently the game went with it. Wish I saw it now! Musta been one helluva beat down. Especially to have it even and just let it slip so bad! |
