It's also a sweet sounding book (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cryptonomicon), and very nice of the guy.  I simply mentioned (after seeing that he had some of the same books I have and some [like Cryptonomicon]) that I was interested in Neal Stephenson's books, and then at the end of the day he asked me where I saw it, grabbed it from his bookshelf, and told me I could have it.
