Has anyone ever attempted to write a whole concept album around the life, times and careers of some of our favorite TV and movie stars, and musicians and producers?
I borrow this from a quote from Blender magazine, regarding their scathing review towards the Alan Parsons Project's 1976 album, Tales of Mystery and Imagination (they ranked him as their 21st worst artist in their Sept. 2003 issue covering their list of the 50 worst artists in music history):
"Having conquered the Dark Side of the Moon, EMI's beardy staff engineer decided that what the universe really needed was a prog-rock concept album based on the works of the nineteenth-century horror novelist Edgar Allan Poe, narrated by Orson Welles."
A few TV/film stars and musicians/producers come to mind as to this concept album theme based on the life, times and careers of these stars, dead or alive:
*Phil Spector
*Lana Clarkson (1962-2003)
*Natalie Wood (1938-1981) (and relatives: Lana Wood, and daughters Natasha Gregson Wagner and Courtney Wagner)
*James Dean (1931-1955)
*Robert Wagner
*Stefanie Powers
I wonder what instruments (Moog, ARP, Wurlitzer, Fender-Rhodes, Clavioline, etc.) and leitmotifs would fit into each star's themes?
