I don't understand.

My son and I talked to him earlier this year at Celtic Manor. He was taking part in the pro-celebrity warm up match for the Welsh Open. He was genuinely nice, and my son was thrilled.

I can only say that there must be something we are unaware of.

There is either much more to this than it seems or underneath he was a terribly depressed sad guy. Hard to believe the latter but it just may be so. People who hide these things the best maybe suffer most.
Truly shocking - he had a great career as a player, over 20 years in first class football with few injuries or suspensions and none of the scandals which so many of his contemporaries became notorious for, and his career as a manager showed great promise. A sad day for Wales, and a sad day for British sport.

Gary Speed's passing is very tragic and scary because as one footballer said: If that happened to him, it could happen to everyone.

In retirement, you don't get that buzz and you don't get that life itself. When you are on your own again, suicidal thoughts and depression is not far away because that life has ended and whatever is left is a very scary thought. And I think a lot of ex footballers feels the hand of death on their shoulder today. And the rest of us should also reflect over the theme retirement. Because as the footballer interviewed today said: If that happened to him, it could happen to everyone.

Typical.  Restore profitibility at the expense of labor.  I wonder if their reduction in labor costs will include less pay for the Board and the executives of the company.  20 to 1 says no.

^It would seem that the bankruptcy was, partly, cause by those labor costs they are talking about. I don't know much about AA but aren't they unionized? Maybe they couldn't keep up with labor costs in an economy that is quite negative for airlines, most of which have taken a deep dive in revenues due to higher costs of gas and less people able to fly? Also, how else should they face this situation?

Start at the top with executive salaries.  My guess is the executives make as much money combined as their labor force combined makes.  And yes, they are unionized, which means the employees must be treated at least somewhat fairly.  I know how evil unions are in demanding that the workers not be paid slave wages and treated like dogs.  And if you can't run your business in the best interests of the whole company, including employees, then you should lose the company and if that means the government has to take over, so be it.  Better than a lot of people who have little losing their jobs.

^So basically you want all Americans to pay for American Airlines wrong management or whatever... Well, sounds logical. Good. I hope government also shares the profits of the operations.... 20 to 1 they just pass the bill to us...

There I agree with you 100%.  If losses are socialized, profits should not be privatized.  And you're right, they will pass the bill to us, not to the executives and stockholders of AA where it should go.  I think you mistake my wanting government for wanting this government as it now stands.  Wink

I think this is a rather clever way to keep him locked up for the rest of his life. Remember that the maximum is 21 years in Norway. They won’t let him out.

Is that per count?  Or is that a maximum anyone can be locked up for any number of crimes?  For example, if I kill some people, rob some banks, blow up some buildings, beat up an old lady and jaywalk, can I only be sentenced for all crimes combined to 21 years?

He has got a severe personality disorder. I can write 10 000 words about  this and my own experiences.

In his case, he thought he was a saviour and his defence and whole being is based on his saviour role. Declaring him insane and therefore not giving him a platform to play out his saviour role in the court will no doubts infuriate him like mad. After all; this is why he murdered 77 people.

I did wrote and published a piece on this matter I want to re-publish here:

Why Norway ?

Today's the day when Anders Behring Breivik get the chance to meet the survivors and the relatives of the kids he brutally murdered a few months ago. He smiles at them and still regards his killing spree as a necessity in the defence of Norway. He has said that his actions will be understood in 60 years time. Having followed the debate, I would say the seeds of understanding is already there. 60 years ? More like 60 days is the inconvenient truth.

Norway does not have the pretty substantial conflicts between immigrants and locals other countries have. Countries like France, Italy, Holland, England and Germany. But there are still tensions there.

So why have we not seen terrorism like the one Anders Behring Breivik carried out in any other countries in Europe ?

The answer can be found in Norway itself. It can be found in the Norwegian mentality itself.

Norway is a country of extremes by all means.
Back in the 1930s, there was rife anti-semitism in Norway. 99 % of all Norwegian jews perished in Holocaust. This was only possible with a helping hand from the Norwegian police and...... frightening enough; the Norwegian general public.
Three times more Norwegians fought for Hitler than for the Allies (England). Something we conviniently enough forgets in Norway.
There was also rife anti-gypsies feelings in Noway for a long time. State financed medical experiements and sterilizations was carried out even after the horrors of Holocaust was revealed.
The Sami people has been the victims of pretty unpleasant persecution and that even long after the gates of the Auschwitz concentration camp was opened to reveal what persecution of minorities really meant.
Our very own quisling during the war, Vidkun Quisling, was rightly excecuted after the war. Conveniently enough, his political party's (Nasjonal Samling = translated to National Union in English) programme has been forgotten. A party programme which has been adopted by other parties after the war. The racial elements exluded; the majority by a mainstream party which is now a miniority party in the government. I do not think adopted by intent, but by default.
In Norway, the marxist-leninists was pretty vocal and strong during the 1970s. Many visited Pol Pot during his murdering regime in Cambodia when 1/3 of their population perished during the few years of his murdering regime.
There are still a substantial amount of people in Norway who does not believe the facts that this genocide took place. Just like there are people who does not believe that Holocaust ever took place. I Norway, the Holocaust deniers are hounded out of the communities while the Cambodia genocide deniers are the pillars of the community.
The same people was leading the successful no to a Norwegian membership in the European Union with an isolation agenda. In the choice between joining an union of democratic capitalist European countries and staying isolated on the fringes, Norway chose isolation and the nationalist and mono-cultural cause.
Norway has also given us the black metal scene. Another pretty extreme scene with a nationalist mono cultural agenda.

So why has there not been any Anders Behring Breivik type of massacres in any other European countries ? Why is Anders Behring Breivik's 1500 pages long manifesto something no other person or even nationality has written ? The frightening thing is; no other nationality could even have written this manifesto. This manifesto is unique Norwegian.

At any crime scene, the question Why will always be raised. But not in this case. It will never be raised.

It is a strong probability that the frightening truth is that Anders Behring Breivik just followed a Norwegian tradition. He just followed the path of Vidkun Quisling and many other Norwegians who always justified their actions by saying "the nation will understand us in the future". And we declare Anders Behring Breivik as insane, jail him and throw away the keys like we excecuted Vidkun Quisling and conveniently forgot the truths that does not suit our self beliefs. After all; we just shot Vidkun Quisling, declared his follower Knut Hamsun as insane and did not take the Why debate in the post WW2 Norway either.

I don't see the question Why being raised today either. Why is it that Norway is so unique in giving the world Vidkun Quisling's political manifesto, genocide deniers which is now the pillars of the society and Anders Behring Breivik own manifesto ? Why Norway ?

I am afraid the lack of a more constructive debate means Norway is doomed to repeat it self. And Anders Behring Breivik's hideous crimes will not be the last of this sort on Norwegian soil. More blood will be shed. The seeds to more atrocities has been sown and no pesticides has been applied.

I don't know if it still happens today but once upon a time some contractors would take on jobs at no profit just to keep their workers gainfully employed.

US Government Liable for Anthrax Attacks Big Time: "The federal government has agreed to pay $2.5 million to the widow and children of the first person killed in the anthrax letter attacks of 2001, settling a lawsuit claiming that the Army did not adequately secure its supply of the deadly pathogen."
Just remember Bush & Co., Inc. kept us safe after they screwed up the whole 9/11 thing.

So it seems like this Bernie Fine from Syracuse was molesting boys.
There are some sick ass people out there, and horrifying to think they go for these positions giving them easy access to children....and are usually beloved by the unknowing community Cry

Well, even weirder his wife seems to have know!?

Also ESPN had a tape with proof of this, and while not being legally required to do so...they did not do the right thing and tell the police "hey this woman told us her husband was molesting kids, we have it here". Claiming they had no need to do so and they never saw anything happen.

Wasn't it ESPN that ignored most of the Penn State scandal and focused on Joe Paterno? Mainly for not doing "what was right" and telling the police? Even though he never saw anything happen.
Also, was so odd we barely heard of this Syracuse scandal......hmmmmm

tl;dr  the media is hypocritical scum

also, wtf is wrong with people out there? I hope to god these are 2 outliers and there's no more news of athletic figures molesting kidsCry

Sorry, I went non political for a moment.

Uh....I heard Ron Paul actually seems to have some real life support, hanging around with Cain.
The media and party don't want him but will Paul fight it all off and actually get to run for President??
