Is Musea, what used to be Everygrey records (not to be confused with the metal band)? Everygrey's website was archived and then disappeared from the archive. I understand they became another label under a different name. Bands/projects signed to them were Colossus Project, Healing Road, Mirage, Galadriel, Ulysses, Luup, Cast, Anima Mundi, Ancient Vision, Guy Manning & Andy Tillison and many others.

I can find no trace of a record label called Evergrey Records. Of the artists you mention, all but the last two are or have been signed to Musea Records. Could it be that you're mixing this up with a reseller rather than a label?

Musea Records have been active under that name for more than 20 years now.

Yes, it is possible. I just assumed they were a label because they offered free mp3 downloads of whole tracks as samples. Is it possible for a reseller to be taken over by a label? If they were taken over by another reseller, they could potentially be even harder to track down. The reason I wanted to find them, is because the samples led me to hear many high quality bands that I would never have otherwise come across. There would be others I missed before the site disappeared.

Musea Records have samples from their own releases on their webshop, at least their most recent ones. And all of their own artists (i.e. the ones signed by Musea exclusively) can all be found on Spotify too. So in that department you will have plenty to explore.
And then there's Progstreaming of course. It takes a dedicated listener to just manage to keep track of all the titles given a run of a few weeks of free streaming on that site.
Whatever happened to the site you refer to I don't know. I had never heard about them until you mentioned that one.

Okay, thanks very much for your help. Maybe someone who remembers the site (www.evergrey.com) will pass by one of these days. Evergrey were active up to July 2009. Their site was cached after this but probably still worked up to the end of that year.

Hmmm, that URL points to a Japanese clothes shop or something from what I can see, and the Internet archive points to that one or a similar type of site all the way back to 2004. You sure that was the correct URL?

Yes, I'm sure about the url because I saved it as a favourite. I've also seen the Japanese clothes shop and many sites for the metal band.

I've spotted a mistake, in my favourites, it comes up as

                                 http:www.evergrey.fr

Hmmm, this one by the looks of it. A privately run blog site as far as I can see. Unsure how much they put up there with the artists and labels consent, and always funny seeing a site mimicking - at least to some extent - this very site. On this one the colour scheme first and foremost.
Unsure of how legal that site was, and while it is idle speculation that may be the cause for it's sudden disappearance.

I found this link on an archive:

If they were illegal, wouldn't they have posted entire albums rather than  a selection of tracks?

I can't say whether or not they were. The main question is whether or not they were given permission to post these tracks, not that they were posting tracks rather than albums.

But whatever the cause the site is gone, and it disappeared rather quickly. And while one might speculate as to the reasons why, we'll probably never know for sure. I am rather certain about this site operating on an independent basis however, it had all the trademarks of a personal rather than business-operated venture.

Musea are still steadily releasing material, the initial posts in this thread are usually up to date in tracking their releases. Here a vid by an artist I don't think we'll see on PA in any forseeable future, just out now on their Great Winds imprint.

One of the numerous electronic artists issued by Musea that will never appear in our database. Interesting stuff however.

Musea keeps churning out new music, three albums released by them this week. One of them the second album by Backyards.

***Hardly a CD lost in the pile***

JEAN-JACQUES TOUSSAINT ( TIEMKO ) has been promoting a new song oriented album, going on to explore a well recognizable vein and world.
