Yes, but she's also not a bible-beatin', tobaccy chewin', gun-totin' conservative.
I can understand your anger at me, but what did the horse I rode in on ever do to you?

Your ignorant stereotypes get worse and worse.  Quite a bit of my family lives in mobile homes.  Some of them are practicing Christians and some of them are conservative (I don't think any of them are overtly political) but none of them chew tobacco and none of them are "gun-totin'" (whatever that means).  Some hunt and some don't.  Most of them like to fish and mind their own business.

Ok. Ok.  Fair enough.  I do actually know some people who chew tobacco who aren't conservative.  LOL

Also, I do not recall saying that ALL people who live in trailer parks are racist (or conservative for that matter).  I only implied that it runs rampant in those places.

I don't believe it does.  From my experience, folks in trailer parks are more concerned with getting winter clothes or how to keep the heat on.  A buddy of mine lived in a trailer park for years (as a child and as an adult).  He did without running water for a time (ironically, after we gave him a dishwasher).  He's conservative, somewhat religious, doesn't chew and doesn't "tote."  Instead, he is dating an Irish girl who is the mother of a biracial child.

Be wary of stereotypes.  They make people look silly.

Ok.  So where is Michelle Obama more likely to get booed?  A NASCAR event or a NOW meeting?  Stereotypes when taken to extremes can be a bad thing, but they can also be a guide and a good indicator of how people will act in a given situation.  For example, I would never go to a trailer park or a small town in Texas loudly proclaiming the glory of President Obama.  Stereotypes when used judiciously can save your life.  Wink  I for one am not in the least bit shocked that they were booed at a Nascar event.

The Doctor, aren't you fighting for the poor? Aren't people in trailer parks mostly poor? Or they don't count because they are poor but white?

People who vote against their own interests are no concern of mine.  The poor who are conservative vote to keep not only themselves but the rest of us poor as well.  They deserve their fate.  They are the biggest part of the problem, for without them, this country would be in a lot better place today.

Ah, so stereotypes are okay when you employ them as a means of self-preservation.

Does that mean white people are being judicious when they don't allow blacks in their stores if they insist most of them are lazy, drug-dealing people who will pull a gun on them?

Not that you had much to begin with, but you lost every bit of credibility here:

1) People should vote based on how it benefits them personally (heh, sounds like what politicians do).
2) Those who vote against us deserve no sympathy and are not my problem.
3) All poor people are educated enough to know for whom they should vote.

I have students who are all about making weed legal, but all insist on voting for Obama since they will be 18 soon.  Ermm

No.  Because most people who are black are not going to pull a gun on you.  But it is ok to avoid driving through the ghetto yelling racist slurs out of your window.   And stereotyping is not the same as discriminating against someone.  If I owned a store, I'd still allow people who lived in trailer parks in my store.

Then why waste your time firing back at me if I have no credibility?  Hey, wait a minute, I'm guilty of the same thing.  Ah well.  Easily remedied.

So you assume people in trailer parks vote against their own interest but blacks don't. Which means black people are more informed, educated than white people. Damn, and I though lt this society discriminated!
"For, without them, this country would be in a lot better place today". Damn! The Doctor all right!

Praising President Obama in a trailer park in Texas is not the same thing as calling black people coons and n****rs in Chicago.  Two different things.  One is protected by the Constitution, the other is harassment.

Acting on stereotypes results in discrimination.

I have learned through the years that the people that cry "stereotypes!" the most are the ones who love to use them all the time, just with different targets...

In my neighborhood, we do not worry about black or white. We worry about everyone. It's a nasty time we are living in, when a simple man just trying to get by with his day can at any time be beset by white thugs, asian thugs, black thugs, or hispanic thugs, and probably many others that I can't think of right now. Thugs will be thugs, and they are all here, every day, looking for an angle. This is why I choose to carry a .357. I did practice for several years at the Wyoming State Patrol shooting range and can remove a kneecap at 25 yards.

The Somalis are particularly bad. The state has already had to deport many of them due to extremely corrupt behavior, at which point they either take up or resume a life of piracy in the Gulf, but then well that becomes more of a global business problem, not a local one.  But the many who remain are brutish fools better suited for herding goats and chewing qat than assimilating into 21st C. America, which these days, I grant, is a hellhole; and for that matter many long time citizens of all ethnic backgrounds are not handling it all that well in the current times, hence my comment that we are all thugs now, regardless.

So keep your finger on the trigger. And of course, a corner seat is always advised, preferably away from windows.

I only believe about half what I say. You choose which half...
