I put a thread in the discussions about poorly engineered classic prog albums. In The Court and Brain Salad for example.

So, old time audiophile I am and has worked in studios, here's IMO the best of the best in engineering I can come-up with off the top of my head as far as classics go.

Now don't just simply vote for your "favorite album"! Use your ears on this one. There are a lot of classics I like that I think are piss poor like the ones I stated above.

Tubular Bells. Great sounding.
Dig me...But don't...Bury me
I'm running still, I shall until, one day, I hope that I'll arrive
Warning: Listening to jazz excessively can cause a laxative effect.

Surely it's got to be DSOTM? When it came out people were using it to show how good their HIFI was. I remember playing it on my new record player to show my friends how good the new player was in comparison to the old one.

I've heard all the albums in the above list but none impressed me as much as DSOTM with its crispness, clarity and mixing. The engineering on Trilogy impressed me too, I have to say, so I'd go with that as my 2nd choice of the poll list. The re-master of CTTE sounds very good to me, but I'm guessing the poll refers to the original LPs.

You're right! I'm referring to how they sounded when they first came out.
