Dear All,

Today sees the official release of the 'Dancing with Ghosts' EP.  For me this marks a special moment - the realisation that I am now officially a solo artist, with product to prove it: not just 'that bloke wot used to warble with thon Aberdonian rock-band'.

I'm really pleased with how it's been received so far, both by those of you who've managed to hear it and those in the meeja who've been given a copy.  The gigs are really starting to come together.  Mark and I are just back from supporting Arena in Belgium and the Netherlands, and the warmth and enthusiasm of the response overwhelmed us.  We even sold enough CDs for me to be able to afford to feed Mark on both days!!!

You should also start to see some reviews and interviews in the coming weeks in various outlets.  We've also been getting a fair amount of radio play.

Lots of gig activity on the near horizon:

Nov 19th: The Peel, Kingston-on-Thames, UK (supporting Magenta)

Nov 20th: The Robin2, Bilston, UK, (supporting Magenta)

Nov 26th: The Musician, Leicester, UK (Danfest, with IO Earth, Paul Menel and others)

March 3rd: Classic Rock Society Awards, Wath-upon-Dearne (with Arena)

and of course I'll be putting the finishing touches to 'First in a Field of One'.  In the meantime, please buy 'Dancing with Ghosts' if you haven't already. You can get it here: http://themerchdesk.com

Or as a download only at:  http://alanreed.bandcamp.com/

You can buy from numerous other outlets (Itunes, Amazon, Zune, Napster, most specialist retailers)  - but I get the most return this way.   Any feedback gratefully received.

You can also keep in touch with what I'm to via my website: http://reddwarfrecordings.co.uk or my facebook and reverbnation pages.

I really appreciate everyone's support so far.  The last year or so has been possibly the most emotionally challenging one I've ever experienced, and I really came very close to giving up music altogether.  Glad to say nothing could now be further from my mind.

See you soon

Alan

Alan - I'm listening on your Bandcamp site now - hugely impressiveClap

I have notified my colleagues that you need to be "evaluated" and added to the site as a solo artist now. This takes a little bit of time, but as soon as it is finished, I will add the album and also provide a review.

It's really nice to see you recording strongly!Big smile

Alan Reed has a new album due out very soon (8th October) called 'First in a Field of One'

"A unique collection of songs that provide the perfect setting for the unmistakeable timbre of Alan's voice. The album embraces a number of musical flavours - through celtic folk, world music, and even jazz; - held together by strong song-writing and a passionate sense of identity."

Track-Listing:

1: Begin Again
2: Kingdom of the Blind
3: Never Too Late
4: The Bottom of the Bottle
5: Darkness has Spoken
6: The Real Me
7: Teardrops in the Rain
8: The Usual Suspects

Releases 08 October 2012

Alan Reed - Vocals, guitars, basses, synth, percussion
Mike Stobbie - Keyboards
Scott Higham - Drums and percussion
Jeff Green - lead guitars on 'Kingdom..' and 'Darkness..'
Kalle Wallner - lead guitar on 'Never Too Late'
Christina Booth - additional vocals

Produced by Mike Stobbie and Alan Reed

For the rest of today only (UK time) you can listen to the track 'Darkness Has Spoken' on the above bandcamp link. If you pre-order the album there though you will get the track instantly.

With reference to the earlier posts in this thread, Alan was unfortunately rejected by two votes to one in Neo Prog based on his debut EP 'Dancing With Ghosts', but the two tracks on 'First In a Field of One' that have been made available for listening so far certainly suggest that a re-eval might be worth considering.

'Dancing With Ghosts' was An EP of acoustic versions of songs past and present, including tracks Alan originally recorded with Pallas and Abel Ganz, so may have been considered a touch too light for Neo. The new album is with a full band though, and should be a strong candidate imho. Two new songs originally featured in acoustic format on 'Dancing with Ghosts' ('Teardrops in the Rain' and 'Begin Again') are included with the backing of the full band on the new album.

Alan is appearing at PROGUPHORIA on the 20th October, 2012 (Mr Kyps, 8a Parr Street, Lower Parkstone, Dorset, BH14 0JY   WWW.MRKYPS.NET)

Featuring:
Alan Reed
The Paul Menel Band
The Cryptic Clues (AKA Twelfth Night)
Galahad
