Great! Hmm, maybe I should actually say something about it... it's in the prog fusion vein, very influenced by the first Bruford and UK albums, with touches of Focus. It's rather eclectic and hyper but also thematically unified, loosely structured as one large suite. The production style is very classic and analog. Or at least, that's all what I was going for

Agree completely. I saw them last night at my tiny middle of nowhere school and came away quite impressed. |

Great new psych Krautrock band PAPIR. Recommended to fans of Guru Guru, Ash Ra Tempel, Future Kings of England and just music that is dripping down the walls with improvisation and acid.
They just released their second album called Stundum. http://papir.bandcamp.com/ |

This is good. +1 Just for some actual descriptions.. Dense, heavy prog rock with English vocals. Vocals are unique but not a turn-off in my opinion. Dark mellotron and organ throughout. 3 eight minute songs with a 19min epic opener. Edited by Horizons - December 23 2011 at 15:44 |

At Sea is a one-man musical project whose music is available for free download on bandcamp. The first two albums are indie pop/rock, not prog, but album #3, "Reflections on Teun Hocks," is an instrumental work of progressive soundscapes, and the latest album, "Distortion," mingles At Sea's older indie style with prog to create a unique, progressive work.
I think these last two albums fit well under the "eclectic prog" subgenre, and I plan to suggest them for this site soon. The music is characterized by the blending of various influences, idiosyncratic melodies, repetition (A LOT of repetition), and authentic, indie-like vocals. The music ranges from lush soundscapes with synthezizer and piano to raw, distorted passages which utilize clipping as a recording technique. http://atseaband.bandcamp.com/ I recommend trying out Snowstorm, Guitar Jam for the Lonely, and Landfills first, as they aren't as repetitive. If you don't mind repetition (Magma fans, this is for you!) go right ahead and listen to the epic masterpiece "Alone." Fans of instrumental music might want to start with the album "Reflections on Teun Hocks" ps. sorry, some of my text seems to have gotten attatched to the link, or something. If you can't access the link because of this, please post and say so, so I can post the link again. I think it should work, though. |
