I'm not their biggest fan no doubt but my respect is huge. I owe almost half of their albums so I can't judge truly fair here but I'm pretty convinced I owe the better half of their discography. In the end I'm not convinced which is actually their very best. I love Brave new World, will probably vote for Somewhere in Time (my introduction to the band) but their "penultimate" release A Matter of Life and Death is possibly their most consistent. So it's tough and that's why I'm curious what the result of this poll will be. Good Luck !

Iron Maiden hardly has a best album. Being a big fan of the band since age 14 I've never come across such a thing. I voted for Fear of the Dark, because this brilliant album is often overlooked.

This is actually very difficult!

I voted `Killers', because I love the first two albums, they're both kind of ignored because of not having Dickinson on them. But the material on both is top-notch. By the way, the version of `Killers' I have doesn't have that cover of `Women In Uniform', thank goodness! :)

Having said that, I love most of the rest of the albums, `Seventh Son' or `Piece Of Mind' nearly got my vote. The problem with almost all the Maiden albums is they all feauture a couple of throwaway/filler tracks.

The only thing I can say for sure is that I think `Number Of The Beast' is one of their poorest, I can't work out why it's considered their `defining' moment. `Piece Of Mind' right after it has better production, better playing, better material, it's superior in every way! Actually, I'd take almost any of their other albums over `Beast'.

But not you `Virtual XI'!

I am a huge fan of Maiden so picking a favorite can be hard. It's a tie between Powerslave and Seventh Son but in a pinch I'll say Powerslave. There are no weak tracks on the album and to me it's the peak of their "classic" period, which I am particularly fond of.

For me it was a touch choice between Dance of Death, A Matter of Life and Death, and Somewhere in Time, but I went with Dance of Death in the end.

So many great albums by them, but i wish they experimented with their sound more.
I wont vote because all my favorites are equal.

Powerslave, Final Frontier, Number of the Beast, Seventh Son Thumbs Up

As others have said, they have no albums where every track is great, but I'll choose Piece of Mind for
"Where Eagles Dare"
"Revelations"
"Flight of Icarus"
"Still Life"
"To Tame a Land"

Especially those last two; absolute favorites.

I'm also a pretty big fan of A Matter of Life and Death, of their recent ones.

Not sure what to think of the guy who voted for Fear of the Dark.  Disapprove

I've watched Maiden a couple of times but I can't say i'm a big fan. I prefer the first 2 or 3 albums so i've gone for Killers from this list.
As a footnote, my band In For The Kill (Budgie tribute) supported an Iron Maiden tribute band this year (Iron On Maiden), and they had Iron Maiden original guitarist Dennis Stratton playing with them for half of their set. He really is a nice, genuine bloke.

they never manged better than the debut album IMHO

After that, Martin Birch deep-purplized Maiden's sound.... (check out Killers after listening to the debut)

Major fan here. The period from "Piece Of Mind" to "Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son" is my favourite with the album "Brave New World" being close behind. "Piece Of Mind" is my pick.

Number of the Beast. It was one of the first metal albums I've heard, still my favorite.
They haven't aged well with me to be honest. Loved them back in high school, not so much anymore.

This.....
I have been a huge fan since about 1982.....first saw them live in summer 1983, and several times since. I do enjoy AMoLaD though.......but Powerslave for me. That tour was historic! I'm so glad I saw it.....

Somewhere in Time these days.

I really like Brave New World and AMOLAD, but can't stomach Dance of Death, except for Pashendale.

As for their last album, the more I was listening to it, the more bored I got so I stopped listening to it. LOL

I also think that X factor was quite good.
