I would vote for `Bohemian Rhapsody', as Queen was THE very first band I properly got into. I don't listen to them all that much these days, but the first several albums up until about `Jazz/The Game' are still very special to me.

I seem to use `B.Rhapsody' as a way to (try to) explain `prog' music to people who have no clue about it, as in music with different sections, styles joined together....I seem to also use `November Rain' by Guns N Roses (ie popular songs pop/radio listeners might be familiar with) to try to explain it too

Yet I still get plenty of blank faces....sigh!

That's a lot of similarities, right? So what's the fuss?
How about like apples and orangutans?

Errr.

-They both gots reperductive capabilities?
-They're both found on Earth
-They can both be found swinging from a tree
-They're both, like, edible, man?
-Sometimes I like drying my mouth out with a towel until it gets all dehydrated and puffy-feeling

My point is you can compare/contrast anything.

It is NOT really apples v/s oranges in any case (and I agree that those would eminently comparable too). Voted for Won't Get Fooled Again.

I also went for Bo Rap, it brings back fond memories for me at the time of it's release. Although i'm not a great fan of The Who, Won't Get Fooled Again is probably my fave track by them.

We won't get fooled again.

The Rhapsody is brilliant too. And more proggy to me.

One of my best achievements in life was to find this picture :D

Hi,

The Who's song is more important and valuable all around than Queen's. Lyrically the Who's song is, STILL, a massive anti-establishment song that stands out today for its meaning and what it stood for, while Queen's song is a bit different ... still a satire ... but a bit more distance in many ways, but unlike the Who's version that screams out at you, to let you know, the other piece comes off as just a nice fun and lunatic song.
Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

Both are great songs. However, Bohemina Rhapsody is a song I totally love, my favorite.

Hi,

The Who, is not everyone's cup of tea.

But it was an important band for its time and its significant value, and how they handled their work. They were a mega band, and continued to work, and not give in to the fame ... and that shows to the last album, and you have to admire that.

Queen, was, in many ways, musch more ... evasive and strange, until it hit the big ones, when all of a sudden they spoke very well for how we thought and understood things, and Freddie's last song of theirs was massive and something that Freddie could have done, that The Who would not .

I had a dream once, and it was after I saw The Who's performance about 10 years ago in a big setting, and I can not remember which. And I saw a detail in the film that spoke a lot and stayed in my mind ... and it was in the middle of one song where Roger steps back, looks down at his feet, then the microphone, then his feet ... and the invisible words I heard when I saw this in my dream, was ... I don't want to do this anymore! ... and I wnet asking some folks that were near/around The Who, that I knew about this. And they all said the same thing ... yeah .. Roger doesn't want to do these things again, and that it's time is over and passed and for most people today, it doesn't mean a thing, and that is the part that hurts Roger the most ...that scream was not for attention ... it was the most meaningful moment in rock music, since the garbage on the Woodstock film ... where all the music and event was reduced to ... litter ... it's all meaningless. ... and on a _______ national anthem on top of it!

I really think that Roger has become disappoitned with his generation like I have in a sense ... that we failed ... we wanted a change for the better, and instead it all became ... worse ... more alienated ... more commericalized ... less romantic and adventurous and meaningful. And it's hard to be valuable to yourself, when your work is thought of as just a rock song ... that doesn't mean $hit ... and no one cares, because Metalica or some progressive band is better because of some esoteric detail!

It's a different time and place. Times have changed ... and today ... no one gives a cahoot. In fact, it's usually more cool to not give a damn than otherwise ... a lot of threads with that kind of attitude in this board is a perfect example, but you can use it in politics around the world today ... STILL! ... but no one sees that prophecy at all!  I can't say the same for Bohemian Rhapsody.
