It was for a band called F*ck the Facts (I saw the ad many times when not using adblock).  I don't know what ad service provides the banner ads, but I wish they were more responsible about screening such things (or offer a service to disallow such ads at certain sites).   It is quite ridiculous in a way having a swear filter on the text here while seeing a large banner ad with the F word on it (I really was not at all pleased when my daughter saw it and would like to contact people from the ad service about it).

The free 8lb bag was a joke Tony.  TongueBut I did keep seeing an ad with the F word yesterday.  For some album I think.  If I see it again, I will attempt a screen shot.

Disappears for 12 months then comes back leading me a merry dance!!

I didn't expect you to actually take me seriously.  LOL

Logan:  Yep, that was it.

I can understand your anger at me, but what did the horse I rode in on ever do to you?

Oh yea, I didn't even really notice the swears LOL
If you have a problem with the ads, I guess you could contact the ad supplier for PA/MMA/JMA: http://www.fixionmedia.com/

I can barely remember what I had for supper last night and the man has packed his bags, loaded them into the trunk of his battered BMW and is currently heading south in search of the American Dream, a fresh cup of coffee and a misplaced chord, but don't let that stop you, take up your keyboard and rise against greed and oppression, prise off the "8" key and flick that effing asterisk into the trash can of oblivion, reach for the unreachable, strive for the unstrivable, print for the unprintable, this is the here, the now, the never-ending tomorrow, the endless dot on the horizon where the thin lines marking sea and sand are smiling very peacefully and you can began to notice that we could be free, free I tell you, free from the man and his battered BMW, contents may vary, keep away from fire and small children, terms and conditions apply.

I'm sorry Andy, I'm going to disagree with you here. It seems simple enough to me:

Does ProgArchives have a ''no swearing'' policy?

Does the word ''f**k'' appear in that advert?

The word appears:

What? I'm just saying that Fixon Media could be contacted and ask to remove certain ads from PA, seeing as I believe that Max doesn't have much control over what ads are plopped in the banner spots across the site. I may be wrong, however.

Personally I wouldn't mind if all the damn grindcore ads went "bye bye."

Thanks, I do plan to contact and, before that, look into Fixion Media as much as possible.

If you check the part of your post that I emboldened... you'll see your comment that I took to imply that if individual members have a problem with the ad then they should do something i.e. contact fixionmedia. The point I was trying to make is that the ad clearly breaches the site guidelines therefore in my opinion it should not be left to individual members to deal with the issue. It's not that long since we had those giant ads but I don't see them anymore so I'm assuming something was done about them. Personally, the use of the ''f'' word doesn't bother me... what I object to is people who have hee-haw to do with ProgArchives being above the rules that its loyal members have to abide by. Just doesn't smell right to me. But I guess that was a spectacular fail on my part, and not for the first time. I really need to go away and do some thinking.

From your initial one-word reaction to my post I have clearly taken you aback... if I've come across badly to you then I apologise Andy, but I hope my remarks above clear things up.

Censorship sucks, but it's a way of life...

I'm a high school teacher and I was called down to the office two weeks ago and was told that I cannot swear in class anymore, much to the dismay of both myself and my students!! Now I have to say silly things such as, "that's a bunch of frivolous stuff." or "Mother father!" instead of the more entertaining versions. When you refer to Modernist writers as a "bunch of crazy mother fathers on Cocacola" it just doesn't have the same punch.
If I can't curse at work, I don't mind not being able to curse here. It does seem rather silly to have ads with the F word on the site, though.

Wow, I'm surprised, you werent fired being as I imagine Georgia is similarly repressed as Alabama. My favorite teacher was nearly fired over playing the Beatles in class (he would play music during quizzes and tests) because one of the students was a son of Baptist preacher who disliked the drug references in Yellow Submarine

No surprise if he would be nearly fired (or even fired) for playing ANY music during quizzes and tests. Smile
But because of some son of a bi..., sorry, preacher with a morbid imagination? Where the country goes?

There were mass burnings of Beatles albums here in these parts when John Lennon made the more famous than Jesus comment.

I thought it was fun. It wasn't like he was blasting Cannibal Corpse or something equally distractingly bad like Dream Theater.

I know kids are kids and by the time they reach high school most are swearing like sailors, but if I heard of one of my 14 year old sons teachers talking like that in class I wouldn't be real happy. That language is innapropriate for a school setting.

We didn't swear in front of our children and when we got older didn't allow them to swear around us.My brother-in-law says f**k every other word in a sentence and it really irritates me,I think it shows a lack of vocabulary.

Some of my college professors swore quite a bunch. But yea, I agree.

I teach at an "inner city" school where well over half of our population lives in public housing projects, so luckily we get some leeway with that sort of thing.
That's kind of silly that he was in trouble over the Beatles... Playing music with lyrics during tests is generally frowned upon in general, though. I've played An Evening with John Petrucci and Jordan Rudess and a few Satriani albums during group project times before, but I try to avoid songs with lyrics all together.

Yeah, I completely understand why it's not appropriate, sadly! I usually use curse words in the middle of power points while kids are taking notes because sometimes note taking gets tedious and when they see an unexpected F bomb on the screen they laugh for a second, clear their heads, and can continue paying attention.. And sometimes if the office calls through the intercom several times in one class period after they hang up I might say, "Holy s**t that's getting annoying!" or something like that. I never made a habit of it, though.

I still can't curse around my parents to this day, and I've never heard either of them curse, either.
