Why is that worth mentioning?

To emphasize that I am used to limit the usage of profanity to speech when I'm in the mood for it, so I avoid profanity in written text. The only confrontation that I have had with this filter was in the Song Game or the Song Word game when I entered the title of that Lenny Kravitz song.

Oh, well I don't think it really matters either way, an asterisk is an asterisk no matter if it was put in by you or a bot.

I don't really care about it, either way. On this forum I used to self censor anyway, before the auto censor was implemented. I go on another forum where pretty much anything goes, and it's not the freindliest of places, although it's mostly current affairs.

It's different here. People tend to be less 'sweary' about music..

I'm not offended by profanity, but I expect some people are, so it's probably a worthwhile policy to ensure that this is a place that can be enjoyed by all who come here.
Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!

I personally think the profanity filter is ridiculous. Profanity is such an arbitrary construct anyway, the notion is goign away in modern society. People are beginning to realize it's ridiculous to create a list of words and make them verboten.

Nowadays even young people use profanities (not that I'm applauding that) so I'm not sure what the purpose is here where most (not all) of us are at least semi-adults.

But it has its advantages. To be honest, when you add "f**k" to a sentence to make it sound more powerful, the "**" actually help highlight the word...

I thing George Carlin put it best:  shoot is just sh*t with two "o"s.

I don't have a preference, since I'm not going to swear in English, ever.
I do swear occasionally, in situations of extreme dispair and frustration, but... on the Internet... and in a foreign language it'd seem strange to me...

Swearing is probably, together with counting numbers, the thing you'll never spontaneously learn to do in another language which is not your natural one.

Ah, now I understand the idiom "Shoot first, ask question later". I wonder if PA's interview team does this.

And now I understand the lyrics of  Yes' "Shoot first', aim low".

"Sh*t high; aim low" -- good advice.

No, we Censored don't. Our interview data base can favourable be compared to Volume 10-21 of US Senate Hearings, 1988.

Our mothers are very proud of us (they believe we work for CIA).

If I say "f*ck you" ... now that's a personal attack and could still be breaking site rules even if we don't specifically focus on profanity.

I agree with that too.  It's so much more damaging to a person to say "You're dumb" than to say "f**k that" around them.  At least that's how it should be.

It's upsetting that apathy is the most popular option here.

What an odd thing to get upset about. Then you do seem to be confusing apathy with not giving a damn.
What?

No, not really. Apathy is indifference to important things, not giving a damn is indifference to unimportant things.

I always thought that they could be interchangeable no matter the context
