I think we need to cut spending before we lower taxes. Fair and simple as that. First, wasteful overseas military spending.
Yes, well, you think a lot of things.
How are you going to convince the voters supply-side economics will work? They watch too much MSNBC to get the point. Maybe an enthusiastic person like you can entertain them with your fantastic intellectual abilities.
I hope so. I was just offered a job at a conservative think tank in DC, so I am thrilled about that. Maybe I'll actually make a difference.
Work on the drastic cut in military budget and non interventionist foreign policy and I'll be willing to meet you halfway about taxes ok?
Something I've heard about "Socialism for the top, Capitalism for the rest" THAT is truly what the free market is about amirite!?
What does that even mean?
It's some lame and over fanciful way of saying the top gets bailed out and subsidized and protected by the government and most everyone else does not. Isn't that one of the many problems you guys have?
And of course that is not exactly what a true free market system details....but what do I know?

Oh, ok. For a second there I thought you were endorsing some type of capitalism/socialism hybrid for the "top". What we have right now is cronyism (can't use the term crony capitalism because I feel that the first word invalidates the second) which is in the facist/socialist vein.
None at all Teo, interpretation is all part of the fun isn't it?

Whoa whoa not at all And yeah Cronyism is a much better way of putting it, that or "socialism for the top" whatever you want it blows. It is fascism really.
Thanks for being supportive, Henry. You are a true friend.
Well now you are too smart to actually expect support from Henry, but I must say that's pretty cool news. Even if its for a conservative think tank, not even the Cato institute? Aim big llama

I applied at Cato and Heritage, but didn't hear from them. I was actually offered jobs at two different places, so I even had a choice in which one to take. That was pretty cool.

What exactly are one's job responsibilities working for a think tank? (a serious question)

It's not unlike post-doc research.

Disconnect big corporations from politics. Criminilise the corporate funding of party political campaigns. Separate investment banking from commercial banking, and reinstate Glassteigal, and equivelent legislation worldwide, to make it both illegal and a technical impossibility for investment banks to play 'casino' to the degre that they have. This legislation was bought in at the end of the great depression to prevent it happening again. It was repealed in the 90's.
I challenge any former chancellor, treasury secretary, head of IMF, World Bank, Federal Reserve etc, to convince me that they didn't know that this disaster was inevitable. It's a crisis by design, and the same people who orchestrated it, will be the ones offering up the solution, over the next 6 - 12 months, so watch out!!
Oh, and don't get too excited about 'taxing the rich' Newsflash, if you own a home or run a small business, you ARE the rich, as far as they are concerned. The uber rich architects of this crisis are untouchable, regardless of who's in power in any country. I wouldn't be surprised if they regarded us as a different species altogether.

You can't disconnect corporations from politics. It doesn't work like that. You would need to disconnect people from their desire for money and power for that to happen. Shrink the power of the politicians and the power of those who use them shrinks too.
