Of these two debuts which do you think is stronger. Both wear their Led Zeppelin admiration on their sleeves and both of these albums were released in (somewhat) close proximity to each other.

In my opinion Queen's debut reveals a personality and shows more promise in transcending their influences, while Rush seems to still be "finding their way" on their debut. Plus, song for song, "Queen" is a more exciting record, IMO. What do you think?

Queen's album cover actually improves when shrunk to CD size, as an LP it's becomes more glaring how boring it really is

Rush's debut looks like a Batman TV show caption, and Queen's debut is just a big dump of purple with some guy standing there.

Queen for me as well.  Queen II is a remarkable album that seems forgotten by many.

And, don't forget, "no synthesizers"!!

Rush doesn't stand a chance. Queen is way way better.

Queen's debut is a little better and more proggy than Rush is. Why you all making the cover art such a big deal

I guess because I put the art in my OP. I like talking about album covers, so I don't mind, but the ratings are intended for the music.

Queen's first album is terrific.    Rush's...eehhh...not so much.
The original (and very creepy) cover of THE STEVE HOWE ALBUM...hint...look in the water...

The Queen debut is much stronger in my opinion.

The Rush debut is fun, but hardly original. The Queen debut is also 'fun' but doesn't really sound like anything that had gone before.
Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!

Never heard Rush's debut, but I've heard Queen's and I must say, it's an underrated masterpiece.
He looks at this world and wants it all... so he strikes, like Thunderball!

Two of my very favorite bands, although I haven't heard Rush's debut, so I can't vote. I would bet that Queen's is better though, based upon what I've heard about Rush.

Have'nt heard Queen's debut so I can't really vote but Rush's tunes on the first album are just pretty straighforward, standard rock tunes and are'nt Prog at all, but there great tunes for what they are.

Rush. by a country mile.
It's straight up rock, and lacks the edge that Peart brought to the band both lyrically and technically, but equally it's lack of whimsy means it has aged so much better than Queen's debut.

I prefer Rush by a considerable margin.
