O hai, I see what you did there. Cool

I'll take the one that isn't prog, in that case.

By the way, what actually means "Mars Volta"?

I know the planet Mars and the Italian scientist Volta naturally, but together it´s without sense for me.

Cedric Bixler-Zavala stated in an interview:

The Volta is taken from a Federico Fellini book about his films, what he characterizes as a changing of scene, or a turnaround; a new scene to him is called Volta. Y'know, changing of time and the changeover. And Mars, we're just fascinated by science fiction so and it's something that ultimately looked as in anything I write, its meaning is always up to the listener. As the way we write songs and words, if it looks great on paper then to us it's like painting, so if it looks good meaning the second then people usually have a better interpretation than we ever would.

Me tooSmile. By the way Mars Volta means The Existence of Mars in Hungarian, but of course it takes no relevance hereSmile.

Salute Hungary! Congratulations to After Crying advancement! It´s a pity that their next contender will be just Porcupine Tree...

Thanks, but it's another pity that I have never really liked After CryingSmile. My favourite Hungarian band on Progarchives is the jazz fusion band Mindflowers. Great music.

From what I've heard of Beardfish, they're not bad. However, TMV sounds more fresh and exciting with the Latin influences and what not. Also, I don't think Beardfish has anything that can match De-Loused in the Comatorium.

Never mind. They are Hungarians in general, so you have to be proud. Thanks for your tip. I´ll check it.

But it is a competition. It really shouldn't be. The most innovative and consistent band in 20 years verses a good retro prog band. The Mars Volta should leave Beardfish in the dust. But no - once again, the PA hoards pile in in droves to vote, when they clearly don't listen to both bands, an important criteria if we're supposed to be judging between the two.

Don't just vote for the band you've heard of. If you can only say you listen to one of the two bands, don't vote. You're the reason that this competition is already decided.

True this will often of the time be the case.

But mostly the amount of support for Symphonic/retro vs. Everything else makes it pre decided.

Don't care either way. Mars Volta has the fresher approach, but I'm not a fan of any of the bands.
