I thought Disco Volante was your 2nd favorite album ever? |
It's in my top 3, which one's second and which is third doesn't matter.

I love the sound of Nursery Cryme. I like that whole "medieval" prog sound, with story telling lyrics. Musical Box is one of my favorite songs, with the best ending ever! I had to put this record on because of this topic

It is indeed a fantastic track but not even in my top five on TotT
you can see there decent into just generic pop songs |
Do you actually mean?: a) "You can see they're decent" or b) "You can see their descent" Of course you mean the latter. How can you say "you can see their descent into just generic pop songs"? The album after TotT was actually more proggy with only one out and out poppy song on it and every single album after that always had a varying percentage of vintage Genesis on it. Hardly "just generic pop songs".

The Lamb Lies down on Broadway. Is definitely my favorite, it is their best musically and lyrically.
A Trick of the Tale has to be the last Genesis album I can really get into. Dance on a Volcano is fantastic but the rest of the album never lives up the that and with the title track you can see there descent into just generic pop songs. Even though Phil Collins did sound remarkably similar to Peter Gabriel his range and Power were definitely weaker.

A Trick of the Tail is my overall favourite Genesis album. It was Dance on a Volcano that really got me into the band. I love everything about the album from the feel to the production and album artwork. I don't think it would have been any better had Gabriel song on the album. A close second would probably be Foxtrot, which is certainly my favourite Gabriel era album. With regards to Duke, I think it's a fantastic album. There's a few week tracks, which I tend to skip, like Misunderstanding, but it also has some of my top Genesis tunes; Turn it on Again and Dukes Travels. |

I agree with the both of you. Duke gets a little weak at parts but I just love it nonetheless. And A Trick Of The Tail is spectacular, and really, every song on it is amazing.

I have mixed emotion between Nursery crime and Trespass. Both of them are equally important to me. Duke was also one of the first albums I've heard from them and it clicked me immediately. Still does. After that it's all the same for me. Selling, Trick, Wind, Foxtrot share the same place. Never really got into the lamb though. It's just doesn't get into me so much.
