I found this: http://www.artsjournal.com/slippeddisc/2011/10/more-sadness-the-tubular-bells-man-has-died.html
By "The Tubular Bells man" they do mean Bedford. I'm not familiar with his stuff, still sad to hear. |

Yes but some of the quotes further down say that this is an error including Oldfield's site.

I checked the link, that's talking about Mike Oldfield not dying in a jet-ski accident, says nothing about Bedford. |

Bedford also played keyboards in KEVIN AYERS' early (and most inspired) bands; that's how he must have met Oldfield. His music will live forever.

By coincidence, I was listening to Camel's Live Record today when Peter Bardens introduced David Bedford as conductor of the orchestra. I remember David Bedford for his orchestral Tubular Bells and his musical version of The Rime of the Ancient Mariner. RIP.

That's a shame. :( So strange, I was just reading about him in this month's Prog magazine this last weekend for the first time in a while. Well, may he rest in peace.

Sad news indeed, but he had a pretty decent innings.

I only know him through his work with Mike Oldfield but obviously he was an important modern day composer and musician who also happened to be a friend and a vital influence on MO's music and career.

I really enjoyed David Bedford's works and I will miss him dearly. I discovered his music in 74' and turned into a David Bedford fanatic. His death was a shock to me and I've been listening to this new release of The Odyssey Live everyday. Instructions For Angels, The Odyssey, Star's End...he was a great composer and I will miss him. David Bedford RIP.
