I discovered this tonight and just had to know what type of music this is - not prog i guess but really weird like stoner space rock. Damn fun music in any case with loads of effects and quotes from sci fi films.
Anyone heard of Man or Astroman?

Really liked most of these. Sounds like a late 70's garage band with a 60's psyche fetish?

I've heard of these guys but never took an interest in them. I guess if you can answer the question of the band name you'll have the answer to your thread question, but then again, probably not.

Man or Astro-man? is a surf rock group that formed in Auburn, Alabama
I knew I had heard of them. There's this bad Georgian joke that I didn't make up myself: What's the only good thing about Alabama? It keeps Mississippi further away. Edited by Slartibartfast - September 24 2011 at 08:09 |

I rather like the vocals, they remind me of Guided By Voices. They give the music a nice lo-fi quality.

Yeah, I was going to say surf punk, but RYM beat me to it: http://rateyourmusic.com/artist/man_or_astro_man_
To light for stoner rock, and too fast, and you can always tell that surf music by the (probably Fender) guitar into a ton of reverb and that intense strumming.
