OK, so I figured this may be a good idea for the Tech Talk thread...I know I'm not the only one here on PA who has a certain desire, or GAS, for certain instruments.  It seems as if there are members on just about every forum who have certain instruments which build up said GAS in posters.  This thread is for all of us, the GASsy members, to post pics/blurbs about instruments which have given us GAS over the years. 

Let me start with a couple of my own...


Rickenbacker 4001 (Fireglo finish) - Ever since I started listening to groups such as Yes, I've always loved the sound of a Rickenbacker.  None of the stores around me have any in stock, so I've never gotten to play one, but they're on my GAS list nonetheless, due to the sounds I know are possible from them.


Warr Guitars' Trey Gunn Signature Series - beautiful instrument, and I've always wanted a touchstyle to toy around with.  What I don't want is the ABSURD pricetag associated with them, but a kid can dream...


Ahh, the first on my list which I've played, the Fender Geddy Lee signature series, is also coincidentally the first on my list which could be joining my flock of instruments.  I love the punchy sound I can get with this bass.  Everything about it is nice...not too heavy, beautiful neck/fretboard, good tone. 


Music Man Sterling - I've played Stingrays over the years, and while they were nice they always seemed to be lacking...something, I'm not sure what.  The Sterling has it.  This thing is beautiful for just about any style of play, including (big surprise) slap and pop. 

One more for now:

No idea how to play one, but I love them and I'd love to learn how to play it.  It's a baritone saxophone, for anyone not sure which member of the family it is.

Bari Saxes are the SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT.

Warr Guitars are also the SHIIIIIIIIIT (although I've never played a Warr Guitar - I have played a bari)

I also love both the twang of a Rickenbacker (relatively speaking) and the boom of a Fender Jazz.

All wonderful instruments, indeed.

Used to own a Geddy Lee Fender Jazz bass but sold it after a while.  I loved it, but needed the money.  You can hear it on "No Shadow of Turning."

I'd like to get my hands on that Ernie Ball model.

GAS is a term I saw used all the time when I used to regularly visit a few bass forums.  Not sure what exactly it stands for, but generally it was used when someone really wanted an instrument, they'd say something along the lines of "I've got GAS" or "This thing's giving me GAS" to let the rest of us know their desire to own said instrument.

I used to have it with synthesizers. Now I don't really care. I actually plan to sell basically everything I have but my acoustic drum set after this semester. I don't really care and I need the money for my relocation the f**k away from where I am now.

since i'm keyboard player, i have GAS for vintage keyboards

This is my dream # 1
I never owned one, but I dream to play it at least once




and this is dream № 2



but for the Moog at least cheap substitute exists (which can do much more than mono leads)
and I'll probably get one soon

GAS is obsessive wish to own some particular instrument... which turns to huge loss of money

I have been GASing for a Strandberg for some time now.


I'm saving up to get a model like this one, in 7-string variant, except I want black hardware and either an ebony or old-growth maple top.  I got a price quote on it though, and even if I get a job within the next few weeks, I won't be able to afford it until the end of this coming summer Cry
