Sci-Fi mostly.  I'm hoping to find A Canticle for Leibowitz but I've looked many times.  I could obviously go online to buy it or go to my local Waterstone's and get them to order it for me but I like to find books myself.

If not, then The City & The City by China Miéville.  I should be able to get that in Forbidden Planet.

I'm also looking to get Catch 22, as I've not read that yet.  I'll just have a browse and see what I can find!

I enjoyed Catch 22, but I enjoyed Something Happened even more. Been reading a strange mix recently. Catcher In The Rye, the New York Trilogy by Paul Auster, My Name Is Red by Orhan Pamuk and Buddenbrooks by Thomas Mann.

Must say that Catcher In The Rye was underwhelming with regards to content, if still enjoyable with regards to prose and style given the time it was written.

That's why I want to read them. Big smile

I like my darker fiction generally but I'm not as annoying as Dustin when it comes to enjoying books.

Forbidden Planet did have Dark Benediction, which is a collection of 14 of his (Walter M. Miller, Jr.'s) short stories though.  Not sure if they'll have it when I go back later or not.

There's a lot I haven't read, Henry.  I at least want to purchase a copy first.  I have a bookshelf full of books to read but somehow that's not on any of them!

I did buy William Burroughs' The Soft Machine last time I went to Bristol (Foyle's is a good book shop and they'll have Catch 22 and maybe Canticle too...).

And no, I've not read it yet.

My local Waterstones will have Catch 22 though.  I've seen it in there before but other purchases took priority.

I'm also seeking more Vonnegut as well as Sartre's Nausea.

Damn it, the SF Masterworks series has released Cat's Cradle which I already have in a different edition.  Hmm.  I want to eventually collect all SF and Fantasy Masterworks but I don't have a bookshelf for them all.  Plus it means I'd have duplicate books like Dune and Cat's Cradle.

Hmm.

Hope all is well.

It's super late, but I don't want to sleep.  The internet calls me.

I've been awake all night and it's soon noon.

Win/fail?

Irrelevant.

Quite.

My roommates pulled an all nighter the other night, though, when I was trying to sleep, and it was awful.

Gah.  I share a flat with three other people (four, on the occasion of this weekend).  It's a nice place, but way too small for four dudes, I think.

Yeah, sounds a bit crowded. I'd get extremely frustrated living together like that.

I have a bunch of friends who live all over the place if I ever really need to get out.
I don't mind it much here, but I can't get any work done.  Not the right atmosphere here.  I go to the student union to study.

Yeah, perhaps it isn't that bad. It's just that I really like to have a proper private space.
