Hi everyone! My name is Nicole and my three-year-old son loves to get into our CD cabinet and pull them all out. Now that he’s getting smarter and stronger he has learned how to open the cases and take the CDs out which as you can imagine, has damaged quite a few. My husband got pretty upset because one of his favorite Kansas CDs is wrecked. Anyways, our anniversary is coming up and I want to surprise him with maybe all of Kansas’s work? Since I know that’s one of his favorite artists. Its just an idea but I know nothing about rock music so I was wondering if anyone could suggest where I could buy that for a reasonable price?

Kansas has a lot of albums and I'm about 90% sure they never released a box set or anything that included all of their stuff... honestly Amazon is probably your best bet but new copies of the albums will probably still be between 10-15 dollars apiece and "Vinyl Confessions" is out of print. Sorry I can't be more helpful but if you're still undeterred you can find a list of Kansas' albums here:

Good luck!

Hello Nicole.  Welcome to the site.

First of all, I'd recommend getting rid of the kid.  We had a 4 year old once who tried to eat my Leftoverture CD.  He is now in Malaysia somewhere.  I think.

Seriously, I do not know of any way to acquire everything in one go except for auction sites (ebay, etc.).

I have all of Kansas' albums, but I acquired them one by one over time.  And I got lucky getting Vinyl Confessions at a very cheap price.

So here are some suggestions:

Kansas Somewhere To Elsewhere album cover
This is Kansas' reunion album that came out in 2000.  It is, in my opinion, their greatest work ever.

Kansas Two For The Show album cover
A new version of the live album Two for the Show just came out a year or so ago, and it features two discs and an attractive booklet with great photos.

Kansas Device - Voice - Drum (DVD) album cover
This is an excellent DVD featuring a great set list and the band in 2002.  I could have been at the taping of this in Atlanta, but did not have $200 for a seat.

Proto-Kaw Before Became After album cover
Proto-Kaw is an older version of Kansas that reunited decades later.  Excellent stuff.  They have three albums and a CD of older material:

Proto-Kaw Early Recordings from Kansas 1971-1973 album cover
This, as the title says, is early recordings from Kansas before they became the famous Kansas.

If you need further recommendations, I am happy to help.

I was going to suggest that she contact the people that stole your TV and laptop and have them stop by and pick up your Kansas collection for her.

I'd like to make contact with them too.  Angry

But it's all good.  We got a bigger TV for $50.  Approve

I agree go to Amazon.  I checked real quick and they have almost everything you need.  They also have what is called The Amazon Marketplace.  These prices are listed below the amazon price as new and used. Plus you can find some really good deals on new copies that are less than 10.00  These places are also rated by Amazon customers and are very reliable from my experience.  I have aquired lots of good deals on the Marketplace.
Good Luck!!

Judging by the ratings on this site, I'd say your definition of "everyone" is a tad off.  Wink

I would  like to reinforce Epignosis' suggestions of Somewhere to Elsewhere and the new edition of Two for the Show.  The latter is an excellent collection of early material on two massive 70+ minute disks.  The performances and recordings are all top notch.  StE certainly ranks at the least as one of their best albums ever.  Can't go wrong with either of those.

I don't think the issue of convincing her that Kansas is a great band is the problem.........She seems to be looking for the most convenient, quickest way to purchase and receive Kansas material.

I'm just wondering why the collection wasn't put out of reach at the first sign of trouble?

Point of Know Return is Kansas's best album.

Let the off topicness begin.

There is a very cheap box set (£10.99) which includes their first five albums (up to inc Point Of Know Return). Amazing value as you get all their classic albums in one set. No brainer if you want my opinion.

^sounds like the best option so far. That really is cheap and those five albums are definitely among their best. Too bad it doesn´t include "Point of Know Return" though. Then you would have all the Kansas albums you needWink

...oh damn I forgot:
Kansas Two For The Show album cover
you should get that one too.

...and Amazon is usually a good place to purchase music at a reasonable price.

<p ="Msonormal">Nicole, you’re in luck! I use this site [http://www.kansasband.com/ all the time to get
discounts on music collections and such and I actually saw that they had the
works of Kansas on there the other day at http://www.kansasband.com/
I was actually considering buying it myself. I think it was like $80 or
something like that, which is a really good deal for such a famous rock artist.
Good luck and happy anniversary!

Why didn't you just tell "her" yourself or would you look as stupid as you think we are talking to yourself?

IPs are logged you clown and this post and the OP are from the same computer.

Because I am a nasty man I am going to suspend you "both" and remove the links and replace with a link to Kansas' own site.

Erm, it's possible they just went thru the same gateway isn't it? I mean your prolly rite, my money is on spammer too, but just know that thru the joy of things like NAT traversal, people can appear to be posting from  the same location when they aren't.
