^I love that track. Itīs a pity that most people only know their later work like the Europe Express and Man Machine. Those 3 first albums are pure and brilliant Kraut to me.

Mellotron, Mani is a monster on the drums. I love that his drumming is very loose, but relentless at the same time . He drums like he's stoned, maybe he is?? Because of you guys I'm listening to a lot more Amon Duul II, and now listening to Wolf City.
My favorites in Krautrock is CAN, Faust, and Neu!. Speaking of Popol Vuh, recently I have acquired the taste for PV. I'm listening to In Den Garten Pharoahs, and it is better now than when I first heard it. I guess I didn't have the patience for that ambient kraut sound. I started getting into the more ambient side of Kraut after listening to, and really liking Traummachine by Ash Ra Tempel. |

Florian Schneider's flute, Klaus Dinger's motorik drumming, Ralf Hutter's hammond effects were for me personally the main sounds of early Kraftwerk. They did some awesome live stuff in 1971 with Michael Rother on guitar, with a hard, distorted sound. |

Iīm with you on Mani! Being a drummer myself I tend to fall for the more messy players. Those also happen to be them who throws themselves into the drums. If you see Gavin Harrison or Neil Peart playing the drums, youīll see two stoic figures behind the kit, whereas a guy like Mani and Schulze for that matter use their whole upper-body, thereby also making mistakes. BUT to me that is the best thing - when musicians use their mistakes - deliberately seeks them out. Jimi Hendrix did... BTW nice youīre getting into Popol Vuh and some of that creepy crawly ambient Kraut - I had a hard time getting into that stuff as well, but now it seems to be the stuff I enjoy the most - go figure.

There you go again confirming what i've said for years.I'm sure you love that ORGANISATION album too,or were you including that ? Love their early stuff.Apparently they aren't too fond of their early stuff and refuse to re-issue them.

I'm playing catchup here guys so forgive me for all the posts. Andrew that's a great way to describe Mani's drumming. He's like a man possessed isn't he ? Yet like you say he's loose at the same time. Would you believe that FAUST only recently clicked with me.I never could get past the experimental aspect of their music until recently.Hey that's their thing right ? Love CAN and POPOL VUH and i was just thinking the other day i haven't listened to NEU! for a while. Hey you mention Traummachine(German for Dream-machine) do you have "Join Inn" ? I think you'd like the second side long track on that one as well.

I wasnīt actually, but now that I think of it - yeah, the first 4 albums are brilliant examples of early Krautrock Maybe they think the cybotronic lifeless and sterile world theyīve managed to conjure up during the past 35 years will be disturbed and somehow become ambiguous? I donīt know, but itīs a shame that they discredit their own legacy, just because their tastes have changed. I hate when artists do that!
