all thanks to almighty Tortoise (especially the TNT and It's All Around You albums), i have developed an obsession with the smoother end of jazz rock fusion, particularly the stuff from the late 70s onwards. Well not THAT smooth i.e. Fourplay but somehow still retaining that sense of adventure in eclecticism n the sound:

Casiopea - Eyes Of The Mind
Casiopea - 4 x 4
Spyro Gyra - Access All Areas
Spyro Gyra - Road Scholars
Special EFX - Confidential
Shadowfax - Shadowdance
Yellowjackets - Four Corners
Yellowjackets - Politics
Passport - Heavy Nights
Skywalk - Paradiso
Miles Davis - Tutu

other albums/bands i shld check out?? recommendations most welcome to feed my abyssal cravings!!!!

Thought I'd throw something in the thread.
Been enjoying Herb Alpert and TJB since I was probably 5 years old.

Iīm sorry Pastor Rex Cat, but you canīt seriously be suggesting that Bitches Brew is smooth fusion right? Thatīs like calling Ozric Tentacles the modern day version of Joni Mitchel.

Smooth jazz/fusion you say?

Bambibanda e Melodie is a record I just reviewed and itīs like pure butter for all you smoothie afficionados out there.

To my metal jaded eardrums, there's smoothness to it. But that's me.
What I'll do is keep my attention on this thread and learn from the other participants.
This one by George Duke I don't have but it sounds promising.
