The Krautrock Space

 

My Brother-in law lives just out of town in an old farm house so noise isn't a concern. Like the guys from KRAAN way back when,only those guys practised continually.Good luck at university Guld,it is that time of year sadly.I hate when summer ends.

I´ll bet you have some wonderful scenery up there in Canada! I often use nature and my surroundings as a backdrop to Krautrock. Seems very natural to me - the music very often corresponds beautifully to streams, woods, beaches, desolate fields, flocks of birds or just your hair being blown in front of your eyes. I get this mostly with Kraut, Psych and the Electronic genre though...

BTW I just got back into Älgarnas Trädgaard. Their debut seems very much like a Krautrock masterpiece to me - with some weird folk, psychedelics, RIO and electronics. I love that album. I remember getting it back when I was 15, and didn´t know anything about prog or genres for that matter - this album took me completely off guard, and the first time I listened to it - I absolutely hated it I listened to it again one of the first times I ever tried some of that buddha stuff, if you know what I mean - and suddenly I found myself questioning, if it indeed was the same record I had been listening to 3 years beforehand.... Haven´t looked back since, and no need for buddha these days to get into the groove of the music - it´s just there.

Hope you taste some of that Indian summer - but if you don´t just pop on the equivalent Doors track. 

 

We are definetly on the same page when it comes to nature and Krautrock my friend. I'm fortunate to be close to the beach and there are all kinds of nature trails through the many forests around here.Me and buddha aren't as tight as we used to be but we do meet up once in a while like last weekend.

Funny you mention Algarnas Tradgaard because about a month ago i listened to this and i'm listening to that first song thinking wtf?!  The album's title means "The Future Is A Hovering Ship Anchored In The Past".How's that for a mind-bender.

I got Agitation Free on right now "Malesch"  to be exact.So spacey and out there.

 

You know i really think my copy of that Docteur Faust album might be defective.Unless it's supposed to sound like sh*t.

Ahhh the pink one,i've got that coming up for a listen this weekend.

 

That video you posted of Amon Duul II really surprised me i must admit.I was expecting to see a group of half-baked Germans looking all disheveled.Instead they were very professional in every way possible and most importantly they played their asses off.Amazing band !

The only thing i can think of as far as my head goes is either that i did way too many drugs when i was younger or maybe it was that time sitting in the tent my parents had set up in the backyard one summer, my sister could see my head from the outside making a bulge in the tent and went into the garage and got my dad's hammer and proceeded to hit me with it.My sister was as mean as they come.I was only 9 or 10 at the time and probably would have retaliated if i wasn't crying so hard.So yeah there very well could be a problem or two up there.

I watched those clips as well and they were pretty sweet Monsieur Wrinkler. Which bands are your faves from Kraut anyhoo? Have you boarded the Yogi rides of Popol Vuh yet fx?
