"New Blood" will consist of a studio album with re-recordings of tracks from previous albums and also a live DVD featuring the covers from Scratch my Back and others songs from his career. The setlist was posted on Gabriel's account on facebook:
I'm REALLY looking forward to it. Quite enjoyed the last album with orchestral arrangements. |

...in other words, Gabriel pulling a Kate Bush!
Don't know if I like the idea, get the feeling that my all time favorite Gabriel track, "Lead a Normal Life", is gonna be ruined! |

Well, there's bound to be at least 3 awesome renditions. I can pretend the others don't exist.
exactly.

I'll get it, because I have everything he has done, and I'll enjoy it, but I do really wish he would give us some original recordings.

I donīt get it. Heīs been somewhat prolific the past couple of years, but writing new songs seems to be low on his list. Maybe heīs just unhappy with the original releases and has found a new way of "updating" them. Dylan did the same sort of thing in the mid 80s where he found himself to be uninspired for a long period of time, and then he suddenly managed to look at his repertoire in a new and interesting way that rejuvinated his passion for making music. This only came to the fore during concerts - he didnīt re-record songs, but it somehow reminds me of what is happening with Gabriel at the moment. Maybe this is a stepping stone to future greatness and some new original material. I donīt know really, but one can hope right?

I think he's just really invested in the New Blood Orchestra project and wants to continue to promote it. I saw him this summer and some of the renditions are very powerful, and for the most part better than the covers from "Scratch My Back." I don't know if I'll get it or not. I'll Spotify if available and check it out.

You are quite a fine person, and I am very fond of you. But you are only quite a little fellow, in a wide world, after all.

Scratch my back was first Gabriel I didn't like. On the other hand my wife (heavy Gabriel fan) plays it quite often and she says that it's an excellent album. I'm still little bit confused I didn't manage to get inside that album, maybe because I didn't like most of those original songs.
What comes to New Blood I'm quite confident. It's Gabriel's own material and video clips from concerts have shown that it will be a decent album. But I'm waiting his new material, hope this orchestration thing is soon over ... |

I'm disappointed and left wondering, has Peter finally run out of inspiration?

I've seen him in his last "new blood" tour. As 2nd set he played what's going to be released and it's much better that the "scratch my back" covers, much more dynamic and powerful. The arranger did a great job and I'm eager to listen to this on a studio version

And that's to her credit. Director's Cut was actually pretty good. If this is going to be anything like Scratch My back in style, it's going to be awful.

Thank god he is not doing any Genesis songs to spoil. I reckon he should do some Rod Stewart or maybe even a Las Vegas stint. Cover songs for Celine Dion anyone?

I saw the live 3D concert on the weekend and it was very good. Signal To Noise, San Jacinto and Red Rain were all spectacular and the orchestral stuff was much, much better than the Scratch My Back recordings. If the studio renditions are anywhere near as good as the live stuff, this'll be great. |
