Well...it's a fine line. Hate to see the stupid masses going crazy BUT the threat was pretty real. As of last night the storm had a chance to be pretty decent and heading directly this way, including for New York City and you can imagine what a nightmare that'd be.

Though now it looks to stay off shore so we won't get the brunt of it, and it may not even be hurricane strength now, though flooding is still a concern.

Hope nothing bad will happen anymore.

Looking at your location in the state, it's really not gunna be more than a sh*tty day LOL
Though I thank North Carolina for taking a hit for the team, glad the storm will be weaker but now probably not even hurricane strength. So I'm kinda peeved now
When will I live through some natural history!?

RI has declared a state of emergency, and my school has pushed day 1 forward a day. Irene will probably be no more than a TS by the time it hits us as well. We are such a silly state.

Well I'd hate to be on the coast of RI that's for damn sure!
You guys did luck out, less than 24 hours ago I and many others thought you New Englanders were about to get the worst storm in like 70 years.
Granted, maybe a few of you should be cleared out Tongue

Oh no Rob, if a woman ever wanted to reproduce with me I'd have to leave her for having mental issues.  Also maybe the government wouldn't allow it. Would you want more mes running around??

Not to derail: Irene just moved the Giants pre season game  to Monday night. Not a big deal but now I probably won't be able to go. Damn it mother nature you crazy bitch

They evacuated Bonnet Shores, Westerly, and a lot of Narragansett. (IE the majority of the southern strip of RI)

Hmm massive drinking and copious candle use for illumination. This will be a good combo.

Right on Jody, I say bring it on!

Repost but more appropriate thread for it.
I really really hope the eye passes over me like it's predicted.

I LOVE these pics. Just boggle my mind when you really think about what it is. How a cluster of storms becomes organized into this giant heat engine, more or less, the way it moves, it's shape. Just wild stuff.

Wonder if when they evacuate do they actually make it impossible to enter. I kind of want to go the coast tomorrow, before the sh*t really comes on shore, and take some pics/vids of the waves.

Relax my friends, I envision this as being no more nor less harmful than the Comet Kahoutek. Ya gonna get some wind and rain and go back home none the worse for wear.  The gubment officials will paint is as nothing less than the second coming of that Christ.  Relax.  As my grandmother used to say (and she lived in tornado alley and went through a few), "looks like we're going to have some weather."
Can you tell me where we're headin'?
Lincoln County Road or Armageddon.

The forecasters are all acting like it's stormageddon.  The supermarkets are packed, asnd there are lines at all the gas stations.  I'm sure by the time it gets here in Massachusetts, it will just be heavy rain and higher than usual wind.
Trust me. I know what I'm doing.

See this is kinda the problem. On one hand you have people that freak out like it really is the end of the world, but then there are those that completely blow it off.

What do you mean by "when it gets here"? The eye won't be much wind yeah, but it's a huge storm that's going to rain heavily for like 14 hours probably. Also a day ago the fear was pretty realistic, especially for you guys in New England it was looking to be a sh*tstorm. Now not as much, people just need to 1) stay clam 2) pay attention to these things as they change. I'm not sure you follow or are just making an assumption, while you are right it wont be so bad when it reaches Mass, 24 and especially 36 hours ago there was a chance this would be a major hurricane expected to hit NJ, NYC and New England.

We'd not be so care free thenLOL

I'm also ready to take on Irene. I have been preventively born in the Southern Hemisphere so that kind of sh*t won't hit where I live.  Tongue
