I used to hate the guy, but after having acquainted myself with his material, I can say he's one of my all-time favorite artists of the 1970's. That is as long as the focus is from 1970-1975. What do you folks think?

Goodbye Yellow Brick Road is an exceptional album, but I don't care much for the rest. Having said that, he is a talented individual.

I've sold my Elton John albums, but Goodbye Yellow Brick Road is the one I kept the longest. The other ones I had aren't on this list though.

I have to agree. Goodby Yellow Brick Road is certainly John's best album, but I have to say "Ticking" on Caribou is probably my favorite song of Elton's. But I've never been a big Elton John fan.

I don't think I'm a fan of any band. Okay, maybe Tom Waits, but...

For me, I didn't give a damn about him until I introduced myself to Honky Chateau (my personal favorite, and not just on account of Rocket Man), Tumbleweed Connection ( a very consistent British answer to Willy and the Poor Boys), Goodbye Yellow Brick Road (apparently a favorite. Is it because of Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding? I think the first side is amazing, one of his best, but I have a difficult time with side two and all those fillerish rockers), and Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy (which shocked me a little. I never expected it to be the way it is). Caribou is my least favorite of the ones here, and I haven't delved into his 1980's material. I'm afraid to.

Loved Elton back in the seventies. Madman is my favourite from what is a great series of albums, although I've never heard Caribou.

this song is so full of energy and positive vibe, yes some 80s Elton is also quite neat to listen to, I like NIkita best of the 80s songs

This, and to be even more specific, the track Love Lies Bleeding.

Hard choice between Madman, Tumbleweed and Yellow Brick Road. Yellow Brick Road contains Funeral For A Friend/Love Lies Bleeding but I like Madman as a whole better so i guess I'll go with that.

the album Elton John with the song Your Song on is also a very cool album by the fact to how varied and facinating it is, and all the harpishcord he used back in the day, he was a very good promoter for the classic harpishcord sound and used it frequently.
