Olav Thon (born 29 June 1923 in Ål, Hallingdal) is a Norwegian real estate developer and listed by Forbes List of Billionaires as the 368th richest person in the world in 2008.[1] His 2005 reported income was NOK 1.2B (US $179M), the highest in Norway.[2] He lives just outside Oslo, in Sollihøgda, Hole municipality. Thon is a Christian[3][4]. His company owns 360 properties in Norway and 18 abroad, including shopping malls, office buildings, retail stores and hotels. His principal holdings are the private companies Stormgård AS and Thongård AS, in addition to a major stake in the publicly traded company Olav Thon Eiendomsselskap ASA.[5]

In an article in the Norwegian newspaper DN on September 10, 2008, Olav Thon's solicitor, John Christian Elden, announced that Olav Thon intends to give away his entire fortune. Thon's portfolio which has an estimated value of approximately NOK 21 billion, will eventually be placed in a trust named after Thon, and will according to Elden, be spent on future generations.[6]

and strangly enough as it might seem he have no capitalist traits what so ever, he is the most modest man i have ever seen speak on televison. and wants / insist on payin more taxes and also wants the other capitalist billioners in Norway to pay more taxes, so he incourages taxation THAT MAKES HIM A SOCIALIST BILLIONARE

Have you read Mysterier by Knut Hamsun? Am I wrong in thinking there's something particularly Norwegian about the character of Nagel? (He's one of my favourite characters in literature k)

If I had a lot of money, I'd spend it all in music, a badass music system, 4 computers and a nice recording studio.

If I had a lot of money I'd be constantly afraid of someone stealing it, or it mysteriously disappearing from the bank or losing its value.

no Cry,  i tried to read Hunger but his depression was temptatios so much that i become depressed myself, but i read half of it, but I have said to myself that I must read more Knut Hamsun

A much facination man this Knut, on one side you have one of the most important and bravest modernist writers, who might have developed the genere more then anyone since Ibsen, but on the other side you have a man who is also hated like a plague that a nazie symphetiser is, (he even sent his Nobel Literature price to Hitler as a gift for his invation of Norway Angry) but in the movie with Max von Zydov we are givven the image that Knut was a very much confused man....

also its not that i stop buying furniture from IKEA even after reading that Kamprad have previous in 43-50s been a devoted nazi and more so then first thought. dodgy buissnisman

So many great writers were nazi symphatizers, Céline and even Heidegger, it's quite surprising really Shocked

I have a feeling Hamsun was quite a sad and troubled person, he reminds me of Kafka a lot k
