so.... the knack:
personally I've always felt that the II, VIII, MMXV, II chord progression in My Sharona was a radical depareture for the band and a move away from the boogie-based pub-rock of their earlier incarnation as the KNACKered into a more conceptually based, ambient-dub-space rock-raga cum alt-country, proto-punk framework, particularly in the singer's apparent obsession with having illegal sex with underage girls as so eleoquently (and these days convictably) expressed in the song:
Ooh my little pretty one, pretty one. When you gonna give me some time, Sharona? Ooh you make my motor run, my motor run. Gun it comin' off the line Sharona Never gonna stop, give it up. Such a dirty mind. Always get it up for the touch of the younger kind
and then in the almost tantric refrain:
My my my i yi woo. M M M My Sharona.... My my my i yi woo. M M M My Sharona...My my my i yi woo. M M M My Sharona...
Defintiely I feel they should be in the archives. (idiot s)Avant Prog God

Hi all, I am new to this site, Thanks Peter. I see that he is very prolific around here, threading many needles, . Well, for what it is worth, he does have the knowledge to back it up. cheers all.

Good to see you here Quacky, and welcome!
Fellow progholes, I'd like to introduce you all to a dear old friend of mine. Quacky is my pal from way back to the 70s, and the "old country" from whence we both come. In 78-79 we were sharing an apartment in Calgary, and listening to the likes of 801, Bowie's LODGER, Eno, Gentle Giant, and loads of other great stuff.
He's now on Canada's western edge (British Columbia), and I am land-bound in Ontario, but we remain friends. He recently got back in touch via phone, I told him about this site, and the rest is history (or will be....)
BTW: His name REALLY IS "QUACKY." He is the unnatural spawn of as fowl a family of feathered fiends as you are ever likely to encounter!
Welcome, Sir Q. of Quack! Good to have a "real-life" friend here!

Thanks, Peter, for that wonderfully verbose introduction. It is good to see that you still retain the sardonic whit you were so notorious for. I am hopeful to gain insight here. I have been reading various threads, and in doing so have come to the realization that the quality of members is of the highest regard. cheers and thanks loads
