Topic: New Kayo Dot live Album "Gamma Knife" Info Posted: August 10 2011 at 19:33 |
Coming from the Kayo Dot newsletter:
Toby wrote:
II. NEW Kayo Dot material!!! We have a very special concert lined up on October 5, 2011 at Littlefield in Brooklyn, NY. At this concert, we're going to play a full set of all-new material and record the whole thing. Afterward, we're going to take these recordings home and do a million overdubs. This will be our next album. We hope that as many of you as possible can come to this show, especially because there will be some audience participation, which will be crucial to the sound of the record! That's at Littlefield, Brooklyn NY, October 5, 2011, 7PM, openers TBA. |
Sounds awesome. More details as they come.

Lets hope they give the audience a credit in the liner notes.

The show has been recorded. Here's what some people over at Last. fm said...
Hagun wrote:
I was there. New stuff is awesome. High energy, jamming drumming (and plenty of blast beats) and a lot of sax leads, I was really into Toby on bass again as well. I recorded a bit on my iphone...but forget that quality. You will hear my voice on this new album - I hope. I left the show so stoked. Although I love Blue Lambency, Coyote, and Stained Glass, this is really the best thing since Dowsing to me. The played the set once, then again for a second take. Got to hear it all twice. It was so good. So good. So good. There was one f**king blockhead that kept shouting for "gang rape" after "gang vocals" were mentioned being part of a song, but there was bound to be one. |
AmpleVoltage wrote:
I didn't go ( :-( ), but some guy on Twitter who apparently did said, "No violin, no guitars, just bass, drums and two saxes." And Mia confirmed the band was playing without her. |
platypusman42 wrote:
It's also worth noting that Toby did not sing a single clean note during the set. I don't know if that's going to change for the final recording, but those who miss his brutal screaming will be very happy. The new stuff is so aggressive (especially the drumming). |
Here's a pic (soundcheck):

That pic is awesome. I can't wait for this album.
Any chances of Mia being on the album from the studio? They mentioned lots of dubs.
Either way that line up of Bass, Sax and drums amazes me. It should sound amazing. Toby is a genius afterall.

Larger boner every time I check the thread. I need this album now. Hopefully it's out soon in the new year. Any announcements on release dates? Obviously not to be expected till at least Feb
