I thought you said you would never reveal your #1 album. Am I to presume that it is not on this list, and DSOTM is only a 14/15?

I changed my habits. Now Small Change, JCSS, and Dark Side of the Moon are 15/15. And... only '14'? Man, a 14/15 to me is an otherworldly experience. It either cripples my heart or makes me cry, takes me to another world or is so consistent it's mind-spinning. A 15 is only a 14 in fancier street clothes. Incidently,  they are grouped 15/14/13/12, and some of the twelves are terribly close to 11s.

This doesn't include anything from: Vangelis (Blade Runner OST will definitely be a 14), REM, Supertramp, The Kinks (Arthur will definitely be a 13), Cocteau Twins (Treasure will probably be a 13), the Cure (Disintegration might be a 13), and a great deal of Bjork's material (Homogenic and Vespertine both have 12/13 potential).

These are all the ones I've heard. Not a bad one among 'em, I think. Some favorites from this list:

Fragile - Got me into prog

Jesus Chris Superstar - I recently ordered the broadway version, let's hope it compares to the film version.

Lamb Lies Down - Genesis' masterpiece

Bat Out of Hell I / II - Really fun music, Meat Loaf is great.

The Magma - surprised to see these in this list, I thought you didn't dig them so much?

Sorry - by only 14, I only meant not 15, not that 14 is not good or anything.

I see you have a lot of Savatage on your list. I've just started getting into them (listened to Dead Winter Dead, recently acquired Streets but haven't listened to it yet). I'm going backwards - I got into TSO because of Beethoven's Last Night, got the rest of their discography (none of which was quite as good as BLN) and am now going backwards in time to their roots. So far, Dead Winter Dead was good but still not BLN level. What do you think of TSO's output?

No Magma album is higher than a 12. A 12 to me is 'good bordering on great. Consistent and interesting, but not altogether mindblowing'. Seems about right to me. Highest ratings from bands not here:

Moving Pictures, Rush - 11
Emerson, Lake, and Palmer, Emerson, Lake, and Palmer - 11

TSO's output? Really enjoy their first album, almost love Beethoven's Last Night. I'd say, according to my heart, 12 and 13, respectively. The only Savatage side project I really care about (even if Dr. Butcher was 2 cool 4 skool). Haven't gotten around to reviewing them, yet.

Savatage was the first band I loved.

Are their non-concept albums worth owning?

Well, if you take a look, I gave Hall of the Mountain King a 14/15 (sitting high as my favorite metal album of all). I also gave Gutter Ballet a 13/15 (remembering that 13s, 14s and 15s are all just different shades of 'masterpiece' in my eyes and heart). I gave both Sirens, Edge of Thorns, and Dungeons are Calling 12s (both are just damn good classic metal albums). Wake of Magellan is almost as good as Dead Winter Dead, and the bonus tracks (including a heart-rending acoustic remix of Somewhere in time/Alone You Breathe) almost makes it equal. To be honest, the only albums from their career I don't actually care for would be Power of the Night, Poets and Madment, and Fight for the Rock.

So in short I wouldn't want to live without Hall of the Mountain King and Gutter Ballet, and I think a bunch of others are just peachy. Doctor Butcher's album is great angry metal. Jon Oliva's Global Warning is the best non-TSO post-Savatage album to come about (yes, I don't much care for Caffery, Circle II Circle, or most of the other Oliva albums).

I don't worship them, but I used to. Criss Oliva's still my favorite guitarist.

"I been here since '81, that's a long time. I've seen all there is to see. Had a space on Astor Place, had it all once. Now these streets are my reality, because New York City don't mean nothin' - it's just a good place when you're runnin'. Lights they cut so bright, make you bleed. Neon children live their lives, their mad magicians, tinsel nightmares. Still, you know I'm never gonna leave."

Thanks - I'll definitely look into acquiring Hall soon and keep working through their discography. I like what I've heard so far.

A few to taste Hall:

A couple to taste Gutter Ballet:

Both of those last two can drive me to tears if I've been drinking.

And even if you got it, you said you hadn't tried it yet: A couple of my favorites from Streets:
