In this case i don't think it did.

I did.  I never took them seriously until I gave them a try in '99 and it's one of the things I find appealing.
Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

T2 gets my vote. Deep Purple, Black Sabbath and King Crimson are the first artists I hear that influenced T2.
